How to Update a heavily modded game ?

Postby Issa93 » 12 Jul 2011, 19:29

Hello everyone !I need a bit of help.

I m no tennis elbow noob as you may already know,I hve been working on adding lots of courts and t shirts and rackets etc to make my game complete.

Now I wanna update my game to the latest version,but I m scared to lose all my data and having to start over.Whenever I copy paste my files on a french install,it wont work.

Any help?what link and where?any special link for updates ?thanks for all

If you update using a patch you will retain any files you added (shirts, rackets) etc. but will lose any original files you modified. Just make sure that you back up any files that you have changed.

When I last updated I backed up:

gamesys.ini
tennis.ini
male.ini
female.ini
players.atp.ini
tour.ATP.ini
tourCategory.ATP.ini
hudabove.menu

You may have more (menu .jpg's, original stadia/courts replaced etc.)

Even if pasting the files doesn't work, you can always paste the relevant parts back onto the new files, there probably aren't too many.

Link to patch is here: http://www.managames.com/Forum/topic15-4450.php

Remember if you have a very old build you can't use it. Also if you extracted your files from the PAKs you will need to do it again after patching (or the game will not run).

Are all these shirts in sequential order? If so it's easy: just no. x - no. y on the model line of [Male/Shirt] in male.ini

If they are all mixed in with the other models then you need something like this:

Model = Tshirt01 1-11 23-28 30-35 37-41 43 Tshirt02 12-17 29 36 42 Tshirt03 18-22

If you don't do this all shirts after the last defined shirt will default to Tshirt03 (sleeveless).

Whatever I try dont work.I Saved up my backup of my previous version with a working male.ini and tried to import it through Qped but hasnt changed a damn thing.

All my shirts are in texture folders and following each other up until 138.I want to assign the same model ( the second one )to all shirts but cant figure it out.

I tried this:
Code: Select all
Model      =   Tshirt01 Tshirt02 1-138 Tshirt03

and it worked (even with the shirts that are supposed to be model 1!)

so weird because editing and assigning shirts worked before installing new update and still works very well on my old back up version (just a few minutes ago i reverted back to put all 138 shirts as model 2)and when i delete with q ped the male.ini that is in my Pak.01 and import the one from the back up (working)it doesnt change a thing on my game.Maybe the process of assigning shirts was changed when new update came out?I dont know..anyways i ll still play with good old back up and well,update wont be for me which is a shame...Thanks so much indeed Torto for taking time to help me.If i can do anything for you,let me know :-)( I have a correct set of courts assigned to most of world tour tournaments if your interested and a good part of ATP top 50 with correct outfits and faces)...

Issa93,
if you installed the patch, the Male.ini is taken from Pak02 . That's why you should let your Male.ini outside of any pak, so it'd be taken in priority... (except for online mode)

You mean your save game is coming up as Invalid?

You need to have the same Players, Tour and Tourcategory files as when you started the Tour. As long as you backed them up it should be OK.

I backed up the players.ini, because I modified it. I didn't keep the tour and the tourcategory, but i've never change them so they must be the same, but it still says that my save game is invalid ...
