Hi and welcome!
Firstly, I strongly recommend you to download a patch if you have not already (Sam Megapatch is the most complete in my opinion). You will get actual rankings, tournaments, sponsors etc...
Then you need to start a season, or a career: select the players you want in the rankings section -> save them in the training roster (you will see a button on the upper left of your screen)
