Overflowing ranking points

Postby Pythagorcas » 22 Apr 2020, 02:18

Hi guys,

I am trying to mod the tour in such a way that players can earn ranking points in the qualifying rounds of Futures (or ITF tournaments).

To keep the proportions right, I would like to multiply all ranking points by 5, and give 1 point for reaching Q2 in futures and 2 for being qualified. (I already modded it to 2 qualifying rounds in Futures to reflect the reality since the 2019 season)

However, I run into the problem that the ranking points seem not to able to get higher than 2^16 (as it is probably stored as a 16-bit integer).
This is about 65.000 points, and it overflows for any value higher than that.
This leads to funny results, like dropping from 1 to 283 after winning a Grand Slam and having less total ranking points than winning a challenger.

Is there a way to change or circumvent this or should I look for a different approach?

Oh, and I also would like to change the rules in Futures qualifying.
Instead of a third set I would like to have a super tiebreak, as this is the case in real life as well.
Is there a way to incorporate this?

Hello,

1) you can't bypass that limit ; so you should multiply by 4 instead of 5 (or even 3)

2) It's only possible in TEM2/TE4 => viewtopic.php?p=268214#p268214 (and no, I'm not backporting it to TE2013 ; with my limited time, I have to move forward, not backward :fear: )

Hi manutoo, thanks for your reply.
I have got both TEM2 and TE4 installed, so I can make it work.
One final question:
Is there a way to enroll for a challenger tournament in the second week of a Grand Slam after losing in the quallies of the Grand Slam?
When I register for the qualifying of a Grand Slam I can’t register for the challengers during the Grand Slam, which I find a bit disappointing.
In real life there are plenty of players who get knocked out in the qualifying / first week of a Grand Slam and play another tournament in the second week.

In TE, it should be possible to do that, no ?

In TEM, it's not possible due to how the registration system work. I note down to add that possibility, but not sure if I'll ever get to it.
