ROLAND GARROS(THE FRENCH OPEN) 2009

Postby nagateja » 23 May 2009, 10:11

Come on!!! Write your views here about your favourite players who play Roland garros09 and also give the name of the player whom u think is title favourite.
Ofcourse 4time defending champ Rafael Nadal is title favourite for many, but u all know that the tough task is to get 5th consecutive title ,which is an alltime record. So do u think Rafa withstands this pressure or go down to someone this time?
U can also write TE'09 Roland garros title favourite and give your why do u think he/her as the favourite.
Well post your views here!!!

Men's draw:

Nadal is the favourite here-no doubt.I cant even imagine someone else win, which is always a possible outcome thought.I can see only Murray stand infront of the title.Federer can go all the way to the final.Djokovic out of the big 4 has the least chances to win,in my opinon if there's gotta be someone out of them (4)
who doesnt reach semi-s,its gonna be him.
I'd love to see what my underdog players are going to achieve-Verdasco,Del Potro and Cilic.

Women's draw:

Whatta mess.No clear favourites.Ivanovic isnt at her best now,so i think the most she can achieve is semi but i'd be surprised if she does so.Willams sisters are always dangerous but we're talking about clay here..still...Safina showed some great tennis before RG so she is one of my shots to call a winner.Dementieva should go no less than a semi-otherwise a total failure for her.Jankovic is one the the hidden threats and Zvonareva can be quite a hard pill to swallow at this years second Grand Slam.

Underdogs:Azarenka,Wozniacki,Jheng,Pavluychenkova,Medina Garruiges,Suarez Navarro.

Vera withdrew, I don't know why she was even in the draw. So sad. :(

My 16's:

4R: Rafa. Ferrer. Wawrinka. Verdasco. Murray. Cilic. Gonzo. Simon. Del Porto. Monaco. Boredo. Djokovic. Hernandez?. Melzer. Bolelli. Federer.

QF: Rafa. Warinka. Murray. Gonzo. Del Porto. Djokovic. Melzer. Federer.

SF: Rafa. Gorila. Djokovic. Federer.

F. Rafa. Federer.

W. Rafa. Zzzz.

4R: Safina. Caravane. Azarenka. Ana. Vee. Domi. Petrova. Lee Na. Jankovic. Caroline. AMG. Demented. Sweta. A-Rad. Flavia. Ree.

QF: Safina. Azarenka. Vee. Petrova. Caroline. Demented. Sweta. Ree.

SF: Azza. Vee. Caroline. Ree.

F: Azza. Ree.

W, and Undisputed #2 while holding 3 slams and a final: Ree.

I probably have too much faith in Azza. But, I love her game.

Unfortunately I'll be shocked if Rena makes it past the first round! LOL I predict she will lose the first set and then retire citing injury. But of course I hope this isn't the case. She is capable of miracles as seen in the past.

If anybody is going to win the men's title besides Nadal I think Djokovic has the best chance. He's been seriously pushing Nadal on clay in their last encounters and he is playing really well. He'll probably make the finals.

I'll be cheering for Federer all the way through(he really needs 1 RG!!!) but I think his chances are very slim...I think it is already established that if Nadal plays his best Federer has no chance whatsoever at RG in 5 sets...I think you would have to be crazy to claim otherwise. So Fed needs to play lights out all tournament and Nadal needs to play below his best. Which I don't think will happen. lol
