Hello Manu! I hope you're doing well.

I know you've been spending less time working on the game lately, but I'd like to leave a suggestion for whenever you have some free time.

Currently, one issue I have is that too many players enter smaller tournaments, such as ATP 250 events, which ends up breaking the immersion. Because of that, I looked into the Tour.ini file and searched through the forum, where I found parameters such as TopPresence, TopTopPresence, and others.

I managed to make them work to some extent. The top players started avoiding smaller tournaments more often, but this created another problem: lower-ranked players climbed the rankings too quickly, which also reduced the realism.

With that in mind, I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to add tournament preference values to each player? For example, if I create my own player, there could be parameters like:

TendencyTE250 = x
TendencyTE500 = x
TendencyMasters = x
TendencyGrandSlam = x

(or something similar).

I know this would take a lot of work if it had to be set individually for every player, but, considering modern professional tennis, it seems like the only way to achieve truly realistic tournament participation.

what you say doesn't make much sense...

The problem is that these 2 effects are directly connected : if the top players enter fewer ATP 250 tournaments, lower-ranked players will necessarily win more matches and points in those tournaments and therefore climb the rankings faster.

Adding individual tournament-category preferences would only change which players skip which events ; it would not prevent that redistribution of points. So it would not really solve the issue you encountered with TopPresence.

Moreover, real players generally do not have a simple fixed preference for ATP 250, ATP 500, Masters, etc. Their schedules depend on many changing factors: ranking, fatigue, surface, location, points to defend, the surrounding tournaments, and so on. Assigning several permanent values to every player would involve a great deal of data and balancing without necessarily producing more realistic results.

So I think the best approach is to adjust the existing presence parameters more moderately, until you find a compromise between fewer top players in small tournaments and acceptable ranking progression for the other players.

I'm already using TopTopRanking as well, but lower-ranked players still end up breaking through and climbing the rankings too quickly. I think I may need to tweak that parameter.

I feel like there's still one or two parameters I'm missing, but I'll figure it out eventually. Are there any other parameters related to this besides the ones I mentioned?

Depending on what you want to achieve exactly, you may want to fiddle with the player global strength with this => topic60-33027.php . (this will change the gameplay experience as well, so be careful)
