Ping Jitter - Meter

Postby johnmachete » 23 Jul 2025, 16:11

Hey manu,

I'd like to ask you if there's some chance to add another box in the screen before joining the match with the ping jitter. I'm noticing that's the main problem for laggy online matches nowadays. Actually if its possible, would be also nice to add like a disclaimer when the ping jitter would be above a certain percentage. In my experience I prefer to play with somebody with 250ms ping if ping if stable than another one with 30ms with high jitter (what sometimes make the game completely unplayable even increasing the delay from the auto value)

cheers!

Hello,

the Auto-Delay raising is a sign of ping instability, and you can observe the ping going up/down. I don't think something else is required.

Yes, i know how this aproximately works. But most of the people doesn't know anything about this. I can't count how many people I asked about how many delay set and answered me back "wtf". Would be nice to add a disclaimer like "PING INESTABLE" or something similar if jitter is above 15% for example. The network standards in general are quite low, and would be nice to at least let people know their networks maybe are killing the online performance.

Another intersting feature is if the play button could have like a countdown of 5-10sec for let the game calculate properly the auto-delay, which again most of people dont do it or they even didn't know there's a delay parameter in that screen (yes, its a bit crazy, but that's the reality)

Indeed, forcing a few seconds of testing before launching the game could help, as well as showing a warning when the connection isn't stable. I'll see what I can do.

I second this, that would be a great feature Manu, people don't know how to set up delay or don't leave time for auto to show the best delay possible, or they have an already set amount of delay and don't change it, etc. A warning would be nice
