Shadows of the stadium and shadow over time played

Postby Gusbaldo » 04 Jul 2025, 17:04

I love how the shadows are projected in the stadiums, but I think they are too dark. Perhaps due to the height, they should be less strong.
There are courts without ceilings where the reflector poles make it impossible to see the ball when it passes through the shadow. I know there are certain things you can add to the ball, such as contours or size, but I really don't like using those. Even when the shadow covers the entire stadium, the overall tone is strange, and increasing the exposure only makes it more “gray.”

Another thing I would like to mention is the projection of the shadow over time. I think it moves too quickly and unnaturally at the end of each point. It would be more logical for it to move at the end of a gameand not after each point played. I have tried this with and without the match time simulation, and it works the same in both cases.

I insist that I love these aspects of the game and I don't like the solution of deactivating it. Instead, it would be better to improve it if possible. :D

Hello,

maybe try to tune your GPU or monitor settings to get less contrast on the shadows.

For the shadows, they'll always move point by point, it's the more logical option (and if it wasn't bad for the FPS, I'd update them in real time  ).

Okay, but it would be strange to have to adjust the monitors just for one game. I'll see if I can configure it from the GPU.

It's a shame that projecting shadows in real time affects the fps. It would be amazing if it worked better.

The game is doing great, keep it up! :applause:
Thanks for responding, Manu.

EDIT: The GPU software doesn't change much with the contrast, it's just a little bit, but in the game I had the shadows set to “fantastic,” so I tried the other options and the best one for me is “good.” It keeps the shadow details and is more subtle.

Actually, I just realized it should be possible to move the shadows in real-time, it's only the environment box that can't be updated in real-time, but it's not much of an issue.

Anyway, it'd still have a little jump, because there are 20~30s skipped before each serve.

That could be a cool new addition, maybe if fps is an issue, it could be added to like the highest quality only in the graphics configs

I know you already answered me about the opacity of the shadow, but this is different from what I'm referring to. It would be great if it could be less dark.

Gusbaldo,
look here, the shadows are very dark => https://youtu.be/xtT9FeDikco?si=_LUP54ZLTNLDwmmC&t=1006 .
It's possible they should be a bit less dark for distant objects, but I cannot tune that : all shadows are the same for the engine.

I see, but considering the height of the light poles and the distance from the surface, the shadows are softer, while objects closer to the ground will be darker.
But okay, I understand that it won't be possible. It was my last attempt, I promise.
