No idea how to start a new post but wanted to ask what on earth this new game mechanic is that automatically does defensive lobs on the backhand when I should be hitting the ball cleanly?? It is ruining the experience and Im losing tight matches because of it.

Maybe you're releasing too early the shot button or there is something wrong with your controller/keyboard. If not, then it might be a bug, but at least that has never happened to me while charging a shot with time. ofc last second get to the ball sometimes i don't have time to hit any button but if you're standing still hitting the ball and it still does a safe strike then is either the shot button being released too early or a bug.

what strike are you trying to do ?
If it's a slice, then if it's not charged long enough, it'll be a mid-high slow strike.
Else, I guess you may be doing a wrong combination.

Nope, is just that he maybe uses the safe strike unintentionally. When you run to the ball and don't press anything you do the safe strike.

So this safe strike is not a new mechanic? It's happening all the time and I'm losing matches. Played 100 hours previously and it never happened. I am hoping it's not a problem with my controller

Yeah it's been around forever, since I started playing least last year at least. Hopefully is not your controller. Maybe try playing with keyboard just to test if it still happening

So bought a new controller and it’s still happening. Had to be a new mechanic. I’ve played 246 hours before this and it never once happened.

Basically I go to hit it and it loops it in the air. Forehand and backhand

All my settings changed when I logged in a while back. Camera was in third person and everything was messed up. Took me ages to fix and then randomly happened again. Is this something to with it?

maybe your change of settings also changed your strikes.

Otherwise, I wonder if your issue wouldn't be with that update : viewtopic.php?p=295457#p295457 => "Physics : now, hitting the ball with the frame of the racket will make the normal & long strikes end too long instead of in the net". If you just tip the ball, then it's normal that it lands long now and it didn't happen before.

Found the issue. When my settings changed I have no idea why it happened but defensive lob was set to being X and back. 😫

Did anyone else experience these settings changes? Happened twice to me. Complete change of all settings including camera angle
