Mixed feelings concerning the dynamics of the rallies

Postby Guest » 21 Mar 2025, 20:51

Hi Guys,
I would like to share with you my feelings/thoughts concering the game. Yet before doing so, I would like to start by saying that I feel that this game's potential is tremendous. Ball physics seems to perfect, the new movement animation also greatly enhanced the experience.

However, I have rather mixed feelings concerning the dynamics of the rallies. I do not know if anyone experiences it in a similar manner, but I have a feeling that -especially the best AI players- are way too agressive. I feel like playing against ultra-aggressive Sinner almost all the time, feeling the danger of losing point constantly, to a large degree, irrespectively of the quality of my shot. Not only shots are really strong (I have a feeling that normal shot-not an accelarated one - would be already enough in terms of strength), but I would say what is the most distant from realism is the frequency of playing -in my estimation- incredibly tight-angle shots from any part of the court by the opponent. I would say that the crux of the matter is that I cannot see in the rally what I would call "neutralizing shots", by this I mean that after a decent quality shot, or even really high quality one on my part, I would expect the opponent to play a rather defensive shot-not neccessarily the high ball in the middle of the court, which I would easily finish, but a long, yet defensive top spin which would make the rally into status quo state. Instead, in 7,8/10 cases, I receive winner, or near winner like, tight-angle, strong shot. Then, if I play it back, I also try to make it aggressive, and it creates kind of positive feedback loops where there is alomst no return to status quo in the rally. In other words, I feel the opponent is searching for winner in every single, or every 2, at maximum 3 short, irrespectively of the way I play.

Just to say that it is not about the level of game, when auto-positioning, footwork boost, elite controls are turned set on the lowest, I can play higher pro levels, and with all being set high, I play master levels, either way the dynamic of the game is simply unrealistic to me. Setting level to lower ones make opponents playing in the same fashion but with less strength, and committing more errors which still, does not change the general pattern.

Please share what are you thoughts on that, can you relate to it in any way? Manu just to be clear, the game is a real success I believe, just sharing thoughts, please tell what you think of that.

Hello,

I'm not sure that neutralizing the rally after an attack more often than not is realistic...

It does happen sometimes in the game, though.
