Precision and Power Question

Postby Sasashi91 » 31 Dec 2024, 06:33

Just trying to get an idea of how these 2 ratings affect gameplay.

I read in an old post that if player 1 has 40 % power and 50% precision (40/50), it will lead to the same precision as player 2 80%power and 90% precision (80/90). My questions are:

1) will that make player 1 hit as many precise strikes as player 2 just weaker shots? My assumption with 40/50 player is that he will hit weak shots but also very inaccurate. Pls explain.

2) Will player 2 80/90 be more precise than say player 3 with 90/90?

Im playing against a 77/90 player and he is harder to beat than 88/88 player for example, because many of his groundstrokes are corner shots and many on the line.

Thx for the explanation

What about consistency? Is that shot making under pressure?

Does that also relate to power like precision or is it separate?

Will 50/50 power/consistency player be as consistent as 90/90 player??

Jim Courier had a HUGE forehand shot but only when he had time to set, but if he was on the run and under pressure, the forehand was not nearly as strong/accurate. A hidden weakness Sampras first exploited when everyone else was scared of Courier's forehand. An example of how we could perhaps recreate Courier with power/precision/consistency ratings.

Thanks for the responses manutoo. I'm trying to edit player ratings and also cpu strategies thus these questions. Have a good one.

Consistency is explained in the link above.

To simulate Courier behavior, if lowering a bit his Precision doesn't give the wanted result, then I'd try having Focus under (Speed + Muscle Tone) / 2, which means he needs a bit more time to prepare all his strikes (not only his Forehand).

Yes focus would work well to edit Courier. Perfect actually.

Regarding mental skills, do these also apply in training mode exhibition matches or only in world tour/career?

For example in a training match outside careet, how does concentration work regarding the good or bad days?

Exhibition Match 1 a high concentration player plays against a low concentration player. Both have "good days" but player 1 with high concentration wins.

Exhibition match 2 the same players play, player 1 has a good day and player 2 has a bad day and player 1 wins again this time much easier.

Is this how it functions?? match to match Or is it set to set ? Where 1 set the low concentration player can lose like 6-0 doing nothing right. This is a Marcelo Rios problem.

Thanks

1) For Courier, you might want to give him the Panzer acceleration trait, if not already done.

2) There's no Form of the Day for Training Club matches.

Anyway, due to the randomness of the match engine, you cannot do stats on 1 match only. You need 5~10 matches to judge the influence of one parameter.
