Opponent aiming preview online

Postby dimcoe » 22 Dec 2024, 01:30

Hey,

I was playing online on Steam and I noticed that my opponent's aiming preview appears to me even when I select 'hide opponent's preview'. I recall that this feature was still in preparation some time ago. Is it functional yet or maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Hello,

it should work. Do you see it all the time or only when your opponent makes a mistake ?

Now that you mention it, I'm more doubtful, but I'm pretty sure that I could see the aiming even when my opponent did not make a mistake. I'll double-check next time.

I just checked and my opponent's aim appears all the time (except at serve, but mine doesn't either), not only with faults. This makes it quite tricky to dropshot successfully ;)

Do both players need to have the option selected for the hiding preview to work?

I checked and it's working almost as expected : the Aiming preview is hidden during the aiming, but it's still shown once the ball is hit, but it's alongside the Danger Zone so that doesn't change much the predictability of the opponent strike ; I removed it for the next update anyway.

Is it what you have experienced ? If not, could you send me a Bug Report after a problematic match ?

That setting is just for yourself, and your opponent's one doesn't have influence on your game.

Yes, that's the experience I got. It seemed to appear a bit earlier than the danger zone, but maybe that was just a misperception on my part (with the speed of the game it's often difficult to figure these things out in the heat of the moment ':D ). My opponent seemed much better at getting my dropshots than usual, though, but maybe they have been training :)

It might indeed come a couple of frames before the Danger Zone, so that's a bit of help.
