Selling TE4 engine to big companies to earn millions?

Postby polakis » 26 Sep 2024, 09:11

Manu i have a question. You have the best gameplay among all tennis games. Why wont you sell your engine to big companies to earn millions? And profit from sales also. Imagine your gameplay with high graphics and lisences from 2K or Big Ant.

It is not that easy and game engines are quite different. It is like getting the engine for a Porsche and you want to put it in an existing car from a different brand. You just cannot do that. I also think Manu does not want to do that either.

In 2018, I answered a similar question here : viewtopic.php?p=252097#p252097 .

Now, with the game almost done, my answer differs : for some big bucks, I'd likely partner with a big publisher to get an HD version of TE4 out there, because this would not alter anymore the gameplay & development of everything I wanted to put in the game.

But right now, I don't want to do anything, so they should have a full team able to correctly take care of 99% of the stuff, with me being only a consultant... :blackeye:

I just came across this conversation, and I read the previous answer from 2018. I loved the response you gave and I applaud your vision of what you are trying to achieve. I must say that you nailed it exactly as how I feel about tennis games. Tennis Elbow 4 is my favorite game right now and I am only starting out. I will never be an expert, but I can and do get enjoyment from the game and feel rewarded when I do well.

The newer titles look nice (sort of) but the game play is so bad that I I can not believe how many people think they are so good and true simulations! The "timing" that you talk about is my biggest issue with them as an older game player, my reflexes and eyesight are not as good but with TE 4, I can dial the game in to my abilities and truly enjoy it.

The graphics are quite good, maybe not AAA quality, but the gameplay more than makes up for it and the career mode is totally awesome. I like all the customizations I can do and the flow is fantastic.

I play it both on PC and Xbox, and both versions are wonderful. I hope maybe one day to be able to play online, but that is for the future lol.

Keep up the great work and all the best for your future.

flatstuff60,
thanks ! :jap:
The most important with TE is to have fun, either you play on Junior or Master level isn't that much important. (if you're still on Club, try to reach Junior-1 at least, though :blackeye: )

Took your advice and I am up to Junior 4 and loving it. Think I may be up to 8 or 9 by the end of the week.

Watched YouTuber RudoJ today play TE4 live. He struggled with it as he isn't used to the design of it all, but I really think he had a blast.
He seemed to give it high praise by the end and can see the difference in play between it and TopSpin/Tiebreak.

flatstuff60,
1) :thumbright:

2) Yup, I saw Rudo is finally enjoying the game. I had saw his 1st video (or 2nd ?) a few months ago where he did the tutorial without reading the explanations and ended up understanding nothing about the controls so I'm glad he finally got the hang on them... :blackeye:
