Steph,
better strikes animation in all positions would require manually creating the anims. I'll likely do a try someday with 1 forehand, but it might not happen before a long long time...
squeakybum,
many people don't like the previous animations because they are not motion-captured and thus the player feels stiff.
The run speed didn't change at all.
I agree the new animation doesn't match exactly the attitude of a tennis player, that's why I wasn't sure if it was an improvement or not and opened this poll.
KINGBARBOZA,
the shoulder position likely changed by 20~30cm (and thus the racket more or less as well), which means your overall visual clues to position your player on the run changed and thus you need a little time to adapt to the new running anim. Except that, there are indeed 0 mechanical gameplay changes : you can replay an old match recording with the new running anim and it'll work the same as the previous version (ie: you'll get as many desyncs with both versions).
Once the run is over the anim is the same though.
fabos,
at the end of the run, at worst, only the first 0.25 seconds of the animation should have changed. If done on the run, it's more, and if done in position, then it shouldn't have changed.
