Question about CoF CoR and

Postby abc010101 » 20 Feb 2024, 05:46

For CoR, I know that you can have different CoRs for different angles. But how are the angles calculated ? Like, if I want the CoR for first serves to be different from the CoR from normal groundstroke shots, exactly what angles should I input ?

Also, does this also exist for CoF ? Can I have different CoFs for different angles ?

Thanks

Hello,

1) The serve angles are very low, but you can get such angles with some ground strokes as well, so you cannot separate the 2, except maybe by using different speeds.

2) The CoF is already giving different friction coefficients depending on the angle in a natural way ; this would not be physically accurate to change this behavior (AFAIK).

So if I wanted to edit the CoR for a first serve, what angle would I input ? What would the line look like ?

Sorry, I don't have the time to do the trigonometry for you : it's time to brush up on your maths ! :blackeye:

Thanks I will do that, but what I meant is, would it be like this ?

CoR 0.85
CoR0 0.78 (specified angle)

There's no "CoR".

You put :
CoR0 0.85
CoR3 0.78 8 30

CoR3 is likely the best choice, or maybe CoR2 (you can read here for additional details : topic60-33563.php )

It's CoR0 to CoR3.

BTW, I forgot to tell you : it's used to generate a physically coherent surface ; this means that if you change the bounce at low angles, it'll have an effect on other angles, but still match each entered CoR. (ie: it's kinda like a spline curve with 4 control points)

It can produce really strange results if you enter extremely different CoR..! :blackeye:

Ok thanks manutoo, I will try this. One more thing, I have noticed that the CPU almost always hits the ball on the rise. It almost never hits it as it is starting to go down, regardless of player type and court surface, and this happens even if the player doesn't have the "hits ball on the rise" talent. Is there a way I can change this and make the CPU hit the ball a bit later more frequently ?

So I've been messing with the CoR values, but I'm a little confused. The angles that the CoR0, CoR1, etc. correspond to, how are they measured ? For example the 16° from CoR0, is the angle of what exactly ? Like where did you get it from?

Also, you said I can modify CoR0,1,2,3, but can I literally put whatever values and angles I want in them, or am I restricted to certain values ?

1) It's the angle between the ground and the speed ; eg: a ball falling down vertically has a 90° angle

2) You can put anything you want, but you may get strange results while playing, and if you put 0, the game won't be much fun (ie: no bounce :blackeye: )

OK so like in this image, is the CoR angle closer to the one shown in blue ,or hhe one in red ? And how did you obtain 16° given that this isn't a triangle ? (Because when the ball comes down from the top of the curve, the trajectory it follows is not straight)

It's the angle right on the bounce, so on your drawing, that would be about 90° (ie: vertical).

In real, on the serve, the angle doesn't change that much.
