Customizable acceleration speed ?

Postby Brad1981 » 06 Feb 2023, 22:26

Manu, what do you think of having the option to have greater control of the Acceleration shot speed? I feel it is too powerful, even when having regular shot speed way down from the max. Maybe a separate slider for the acceleration shot?

This is probably my biggest frustration thus far. I cannot have realistic rallies at higher levels because the CPU players are overpowered. Every strike is too hard and deep when I hit a normal acceleration. As a result, rallies, no matter the surface, are just a few strikes per point.

If you watch a tennis match in real life, players strike with more topspin and the balls, no matter how hard hit, tend to land closer to the T than to the baseline. In TE4, the CPU hits deep balls consistently so no chance to recover for next strike.

If I hit an excellent deep slice, CPU will still counter with fast and deep counter. Happens almost every time.

Currently playing Master 8. But if go to Master 7 level is too easy.

Just to follow up: I used to think the courts and gameplay were a little too fast, but it is just the acceleration shot. A side by side with a real tennis match shows the gameplay is a little faster, due to the pace of the acceleration shot. If it could be tuned down even just 10%, I think that would go a long way to making it exactly equal in realism, and less ping pong like. But an adjustable slider would be a great option.

I agree. I like the acceleration for finishing shots but the CPU overuses the acceleration and thus forces you to use acceleration otherwise you get killed with normal strike.
