Hi manutoo,

First of all, thank you so much for the new game, I'm enjoying it.

But I have a small problem, the game is quite slow. I feel my laptop (Lenovo) is always a bit more warm when I'm playing it.

So what can I do?

Hello,

yes, you need a better GPU (or IGP) to enjoy TE4 than TE2013.

Try to click on Settings -> Video -> Fast ; this will set all video settings to their lowest, but if you have an old IGP, it might not still be enough. For the 2D Background, you need a GPU/IGP with about 1000 points here https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/mid_range_gpus.html .

The game works better, indeed. I set it to 'Fastest', the lowest imo. And do the levels of details and player also need the lowest or doesn't matter?

Everything matters, but you can try to see if it affects too much your Fps or not. You can turn on Settings -> Misc -> Draw FPS, to help you test stuff.

I'm planning to buy an external video card so I can get a higher GPU to play TE4. I have a laptop Lenovo Core i5.

Do you have any tips or things I should take into account?

As stated in the requirements :
- For the 3D courts with high quality, a 3D card with about 5000 points here https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html (to play with 60fps @ 1080p), and DirectX 11 support (on Windows) ; for ~100 fps @ 1440p, you'll need 10'000 points

Except that, I never had an external GPU, so I'm not sure if there's anything else to be careful about...

Is an external GPU actually a good option? Or is an internal GPU a better option? Or something else? I don't know much about that, I just want to play TE4, I love it.

I have no idea ; a Google search with "tomshardware external GPU" leads to answers saying it's not a good idea, but should read in detail the pros & cons.
