Backlighting

Postby Gusbaldo » 08 Aug 2022, 20:05

I really like the idea of immersion generated by the backlight, it is a very real factor that this happens but for me it looks strange and uncomfortable, especially on clay.
I've tried removing the occlusion and it improves a bit but I don't think it's the solution, and the option to force the sun behind is fine as an immediate solution but I would like to be able to keep the shadows of the players and objects from the sun.

I know it's not something of great importance right now but it would be nice if you can balance the backlight and thus maintain this idea of immersion.

Hello,

I just raised a bit the exposure for the next update. This makes the clay look more natural by having the cracks noticeably less dark.

If it's not enough, you can try to change it by adding this line to your Tennis.ini, under [3dEngine] : (HowTo => topic19-32161.php )
ExposureAgainstTheSun = 1.3
And then tuning it (eg: 1.5 instead of 1.3)

Manu just tried the update and it has improved significantly. :applause:
I added the line you said, at 1.5 it's a good balance in my opinion, great job!!! :dance:

I was testing with more attention and as you have left it by default it is perfect, 1.5 the lighting is very strong. 8-)

There was a bug in the 1st yesterday version that made the lighting gets stronger & stronger when exiting & restarting the same stadium. Maybe you got that issue.

Hi! Just wanted to say that I too agree that the new version improved a lot the backlighting. In previous releases I always deactivated as it looked weird to me, I haven't reported anything because it's not that big of a deal to me but now I realize how much of a difference can make in the game :) Thanks for reporting this and thanks for fixing it!

OK, I don't know. The last thing I played yesterday was with the 2nd update and there I noticed that as you have left it, it is perfect. :)

I also thought that it was not a big inconvenience but it was something that could be improved to have that feeling of playing with the sun in front, just for a matter of "realism and immersion" it seemed right to me. :D
