Which One Do You Consider Greatest of All Time

Postby Volleyguy » 28 Apr 2022, 02:42

Simming through many years/careers to test player settings. In this save, who would you consider the greatest of all time - Nadal or Federer or this Future Fictional Player?

Federer: 7 Emerson Cup wins, 21 Slam wins, 1 Olympics win, Won the London Masters 8 times. Achieved a Grand Slam in 3 consecutive years - 12 Slam wins in a row in 2004, 2005, 2006.

Nadal: 3 Emerson Cup wins, 25 Slam wins, 1 Olympics win, London Masters 2 times, Achieved a Grand Slam in 2009.

Future Fictional Player: 17 Emerson Cup wins, 45 Slam wins, 4 Olympics wins, London Masters 11 times, Achieved a Grand Slam in 2027

My vote is Federer because of the 3 Grand Slams / 12 Slam wins in a row.

Federer - Those 3 grand slams are the difference.

What's their head to head record? Unless it's lopsided to Nadal, Federer is the greatest.

I've created a point system to compare players.

1 point per grand slam tournament won, 2 points for masters (year final) won, 16 points for a year winning the four grand slams and masters, 2 points for 4 consecutive grand slams not in same year, 4 points for winning the four grand slams but not masters in the same year.

I changed the name of the Grand Slams to Jewels, and the Masters to Crown. If a player wins all four Jewels and the Crown in the same year, it's called the xxxx Crown Jewels.

By this system, here are what some players scored.

Federer: 20 GS Wins, 6 ATP Finals wins, never won four GS in a year or 4 non annual consecutive GS, = 32 points

Nadal 22 GS wins = 22 points

Djokovic 24 GS wins, 7 ATP Finals wins, 2015/16 won four not annual consecutive GS titles = 40 points

Sampras: 14 GS wins, 5 year end champ wins = 24 points

Bjorn Borg: 16 GS Wins, 2 Year End champ wins = 20 points

McEnroe: 7 GS titles, 3 Year end Champ wins = 13 points

Jimmy Connors : 8 GS titles, 1 year end champ win = 10 points

Rod Laver: 11 GS wins, 2x won all four GS in the same year = 19 points

Don Budge: 10 GS wins, 1x won all four GS in the same year = 14 points.
