Lacking speed to get to balls (or just bad at the game!)

Postby gregan78 » 28 Apr 2022, 00:04

Hi,

I'm a fairly new player and find that it is difficult to reach a lot of balls and rallies end quite quickly. I noticed perhaps that realistic, free and fair modes had a slight effect on power? Also, would it help if I have both me and CPU on lowish standard. Even with Federer on Pro standard im struggling to reach a lot of balls and if playing in arcade I can quite easily put balls out of CPU's reach. I saw their was a speed cheat that might be useful to try in simulation mode. Just trying to find the right balance.

On a separate note, I have been playing on a VR headset via an app called Virtual Desktop and allocating a giant screen in front of me. It is amazing. Just like being there! Thanks

Hello,

1) if you're new to the game, the Pro difficulty is very hard. You should start with Club-10 and works your way up, sublevel by sublevel (ie: Junior-1, then 2, etc.) ; a good objective is to beat the Junior-10 with Simulation controls.

2) If you have really low reflexes, it's ok to give yourself a 10 or 20% boost with the speed cheat in the Tennis.ini .

3) Would you have a screenshot showing a bit how it feels to play with your VR set..? :)

1 & 2) Thanks I think I will try that. A 10% speed boost also might be useful particularly as playing in VR there will be a tiny amount of lag (although unnoticeable).

3) I will record a short video although you won't get the sense of it looking on a flat screen. It is perfect though as with a fixed camera it really is like you are there behind the player in the audience controlling a person. You also can play with a lot of the stadium in view as well. I make the screen so big with a bit of curve so you are pretty much in the game.

Here is a short clip of my view in VR headset. https://youtu.be/M2KbyadC1fU

It looks nothing special here. But if you can imagine I am seeing just the game in my view as the screen is made very big and curved in front of me. You can imagine the scale. At the end I show this a bit with resizing screen and zooming in/out. The 2 black bars at the sides are just added to the recording.

No thank you. Its incredible playing. I have switched to simulation now and after some very frustrating heavy defeats finally beat Richard Gasquet (junior 4) 6-1 as Djokovic on clay.

Can I also ask what the difference is between realistic, free and fair modes. What do they mean?

Also, when you hit a ball out a big colour circle flashes up. What does that indicate and can you turn it off at all?

Thanks

1) At 1st it's for online play, but they are available offline so you can train easily for the online mode ; more info here : https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/Te ... SkillModes .

2) It shows if you were correctly positioned on the ball (green), or not (red). Turn off Settings -> 3D Match -> Show Info on Error.

Thanks I am really enjoying the game. I kind of feel with players playing at full speed either shots are a bit overpowered or maybe players a tiny bit too slow as default. Even on clay big shots and the rally very quickly.

What rally length do you get on clay ? (on 2nd page of the statistics shown at end of the match)
And against what difficulty level are you playing now ?

Hey,

For the speed cheat I need to change fastrun to 1 and then the speed and acceleration to a higher value? I'm using the XKT patch but from in training club it doesn't seem to improve speed. Where should the tennis ini be correctly located and modified when playing with the patch?

In Tennis Elbow 13 just changing the fastrun value to 1 seemed to give me a nice speed boost. It has made it much more enjoyable. Currently on Pro 5. Playing tennis elbow 13 more but with a bit more speed to get to more balls I can see TE4 having more potential.

Finally, is there a serving guide. I'm not 100% sure when to press the buttons and direction and for how long. I seem to lack the devastating ace power of the AI.

Many thanks

Change the value in your Profile .ini . (HowTo => topic19-32161.php )

Service => https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/Te ... ml#serving .
