TE4 Dropshots

Postby noys390 » 10 Jul 2021, 09:44

Hi all,
How do you make the dropshot more effective ? (I am not discussing drop-volley). It is very difficult to land it without errors, even if I land it perfectly cpu always seems to chase it down and make a return. Is there a way to hit a dropshot winner ?

@Manutoo, I find cpu is very reluctant to try the dropshot, which is a integral part of modern tennis today. In between long rallies cpu should try to surprise. If you can please look into this in future.

Hello,

it's better if the CPU is off-centered on the court and you play on the opposite side, ideally with your feet on the baseline or slightly inside.

The CPU will dropshot if you stand far from your baseline and if his dropshot skill is high enough.

Manutoo,
It is still mighty difficult to pull off a dropshot winner, I guess the dropshot bounces a little higher than it should be.

To simulate a dropshot from cpu, I have to deliberately stand far back, is something I would not prefer. We had the same cpu logic on dropshot in TE13, so in TE4 if we can expect something extra, like a cpu player with higher dropshot skill will surprise me from time to time in the rallies (like Djok or Fed does).
However the current TE4 gameplay is fair and good enough, this could be an area to explore in future.

I'd agree. I feel like it's harder to hit a good drop shot now compared to 2013?

Don't get me wrong, it's possible. But sometimes I'll put way too much air on the ball and it will be like a really short lob instead of a drop shot? I'll accept it's sometimes on my bad play  but also sometimes I think I'm in a good position and the shot is bad.

I agree that the drop shot doesn't feel right. Also, I'm yet to see the CPU miss a drop shot, i.e. hitting it short into the net, after having played many matches and faced hundreds of drop shots.

I have to agree on this one. My dropshots are like one out of 10 in, and it's more like a crap lob which the CPU chases down easy, while CPU dropshots on a dime from anywhere and places it perfectly. It would be fine if I saw them make dropshot errors every once in a while but those are even rarer than a succesful dropshot from my end.
It is easiest as a dropshot volley but since I like using it to mix up big long groundstroke rallies it is frustrating that it's so ineffective even when I do pull it off.
