manutoo,
I think releasing TE4 a few months after TopSpin 2k25 would be better as that game already has a bad rep due to the roster missing Nadal and Novak. The gameplay is as arcady as Top Spin 4 with almost no unforced errors, and people would get bored by it in 1-2 months, in my opinion.

anrox335,
actually, in most conversations about newly released tennis games, a few people will mention Tennis Elbow, so I think it might be good to have the game released ASAP on Xbox, as it'll get some free advertising... :)

polakis,
main update = I have been sick for 1 week and have issues focusing so it's hard to work, plus got personal issues... The game is almost ready for Xbox but I have some NAT punch-through issues and I'm not sure I can resolve them so I'll feel better if I can do that in the next few days (and vice versa)... :fear:

Are you planning to release the game on Xbox before the release of Topspin 2k25 then?

KarLewis,
no, it's not possible anymore. I need 3 weeks once the game is ready to release it. So it'll be for May, I guess, likely the Friday before the start of the French Open.

Everybody,
I moved the questions about the Xbox release to its own topic, as it might interest other people : topic15-35367.php . :)

Hi Manu, I read the mini Dev Blog you posted today and I wanted to comment about the running animations that will not arrive until after the TE4 Playstation Launch and if it is possible to adapt them to the game. Those of us who have been following TE4 on PC for years are going to have to wait forever, as we have been waiting for a long time. Have you considered the possibility of releasing with a mod the running and movement animations of the tennis players? Just as the modders now have the possibility to modify the tennis players' hitting animations. I do not know if this is possible to apply to the game, an option where modders can gradually improve the movement animations while waiting for the motion capture animations. It could help to improve visually and playability of the game. There are examples of other games like Skirym where the community with Mods changed the game radically and made a game more than 10 years old look like a game of 2024, I have put this as an example of the capacity of creation that the communities have for each game. Maybe in TE4 if the community has the ability to modify the movements can do something amazing that in the end you do not even need to invest in motion capture, also so the moders have something to entertain themselves. Thanks for the great game you are giving us.

zappingol,
it's possible right now to Mod the movement anims like the strike ones ; it works exactly in the same way.
However, if I manage to implement the new system, the running animations won't be Moddable anymore, as it'll be based on complicated logic and it won't be possible to replace just an anim.

Lol, but the running animations can be modified, so I don't understand why nobody has tried it anymore ?

Perfect timing. I bought the game here 2 days ago and I will be playing it this weekend first on my desktop, then on Steam Deck. Good to know you are working on the PlayStation version. Playing Tennis Elbow on my PS5 is like a dream come true. I don't think it will be possible to apply mods on PlayStation, am I right?

You could make a separate topic for the PlayStation version if you want to. I would gladly participate and provide feedback.

tmihai20,
oops, I forgot to answer you..! :blackeye:
The Mods should work on Playstation like they work on Xbox.

I am not sure how the mods work on Xbox, but I can look it up. I see you started working on the PlayStation version. I am very happy to hear about it. Take your time with the port.
