Is there any point posting on here when my question gets repeatedly ignored?

Yes this is a great game, but there is an obvious error in the way stats are recorded and it has been mentioned time and time again yet for some reason everyone elses points get responded too, but not mine.

Oh well, at least it is a cracking game to play, it is just I get so annoyed seeing winners given for obvious errors from the opponent...

that_dood , I have the strange tendency to get a bit tired to answer the same question more than 3 times to same people (including you), so for my last my answer about this, you can read again here topic15-2583.php . You're welcome to provide any link to some serious tennis statistics site that would go against the quote I produced (it's in a "Comments about Build..." topic, somewhere).

As was pointed out though in that thread, a winner is only counted when the ball does not hit the opponents raquet.

I kind of get what you mean about the animation issue...but, sometimes when you are in a groundstroke rally and move your player a bit late while deciding to hit a forehand or backhand there is a "jerkiness" or a "superfast switching" to that also...

But most of the time if you decide early enough which stroke you want to hit and place your player accordingly, it works out just fine...

Is there a different set of timing problems to choose between the backhand/forehand smash?

Me too, I am experiencing exactly the same. Its not really a big issue but its quite annoying to watch. About my character being broken or twisted on normal stroke, as I said I recreated my character with the same name and after that until now, it doesn't re-occur. I will try to have some screenshots if ever it re-occur, and also the jerkiness of character.

About the BH Smash, I was very close to do it for this update ; but :
1- I didn't find any slow motion video of it on Youtube
2- there's an actual gameplay problem with it, coz even if the ball arrives on ur BH side, most of time, u'll go to place urself in a position where u can do a normal smash, thus it'll create a big animation jerkiness to swap from the BH Smash to the normal smash...

Hello, Manutoo, I just want to ask, maybe I am thinking of the other BH smash where 2HBH is being used. Is this also included in here? Ok, if I find a video of that smash on internet, I will send it to you. About the problem that you mentioned, what I can see in here is the timing on positioning. What I can think of is that if theres not much time to switch from forehand smash to backhand smash, an automatic normal smash could be use. What I mean is that the character will only use the BH smash if it is properly positioned to do that, otherwise , automatic normal smash.

Twisted body in Forehand and Backhand/Broken?

Postby jesp8000 » 28 Nov 2009, 05:08

manutoo wrote:jesp8000, could u do a few screenshots of the "body trembling" in replay mode ? (u can do it in Step by Step mode ; press the buttons to advance/rewind frame by frame)
Also, try to post a pic of ur "broken character"...
:

Hello Manutoo, I recreated the twisting/broken? character. I think broken is not the right word, twisted is the proper word sorry. I just say it because my character use to be ok until the new version. What I did was to copy my previous saved Profile into the new installed TE and play. Regarding the screenshots, you may notice that in the forehand, its as if it is doing a backhand, my character back is too much twisted and almost facing the net. For the backhand, look at the feet, they are not properly lined for a backhand shot. The body seems to be severely twisted here. One thing more, it seems that the ball doesn't even touch the racket at all based on the video. As I have stated before, I recreated a new character with the same name and the problem seems to be solved, "I hope". I am going to observe about this though.
And here are the screenshots of the forehand and backhand as well as the short divx videos.

CC, u did suggestions for future update, which is kinda off topic... But in a general way, when I don't answer about a suggestion, it's pretty safe to assume it means : "It sounds like too much work and/or not a top priority, but I'll think about it" ; which is exactly my answer in this case... ;)

jesp8000, humm, I wonder if it could come from some of your mods... Is this happening in the Training Club ? If so, could you save your player in the 1st slot, and then send me this file : "C:\Program Files\Tennis Elbow 2009\Profiles\[NameOfYourProfile]\p_0.Ini" ..?

btaylor, when you're correctly positioned to hit ur BH, you need to move around 1m to 1.5m to need to swap to the FH. From the BH Smash to the FH Smash, it's more like 40 or 60cm, thus it'd happen way more often... (especially coz often we run not sure where we have to go exactly when trying to catch the lob)

Hello Manutoo,
Thanks for the reply, yes its in the Training Club, I did not test it online because of my Ping Issue. Here is the p_0.ini. I got it from my profile at my computer at home. I also recreated that mistery at home, its a different computer with the same profile. The videos and screenshots I posted here earlier has the same profile with a different computer in the office. The same thing if I create a new character with the same name, the problem seems to be solved weather at home or office. I tried to re-install the game with the latest version and I did not install my mods then the same problem appears again. So I can say its not the mods, its probably my character for some reason.
Below are the screenshots and videos using TE without my mods.
Here are the links for videos:

I have the same problem that jesp8000, for example, when I was trying to hit a shot from my backhand side... and my body was "seeing" to the forehand side, though I hit a backhand shot...

Hi Manu

Sorry to report, but I think the "fast auto-adjust" thingy may again be the culprit, because while I was using my player with auto set on fast, I saw the same things happening that jesp8000 and Santiago92 are seeing...

When I set auto on "average" the problem disappeared...

Try using "fast auto", place your player in "no man's land" (not quite half-way between the baseline and the service line) and set the CPU player's topspin at 50 to 100% and you should see the problem when the ball gets "too close" and you have to back up...

Sometimes with the forehand my player in this situation will have his entire torso (legs included) facing away from the court, then spin quickly around the correct way in time to strike the ball...

On the backhand things can get really funky! 8-)
His legs will "twist around" away from the court, his head stays facing the court, and his racquet arm never "hits" the ball, but it goes over anyway... :P

I can do just fine with the auto set on average with no problems, and I'm OK with that  , but I just wanted to lend some support to the other guys and help you to get our players "straightened out"...(excuse the pun)

Hello Manutoo,
bTaylor is right. I tried to switch the Auto-positioning to Average and the problem disappeared. The one that I told you that I recreated my character with the same name and the problem disappeared, when I created, the Auto-positioning was defaulted to slow so definitely there is no problem at all.
Thanks bTaylor for the discovery.
