CC,

How do you have your service "precision" and "consistency" set for your player?

btaylor:

Rather than give the details, I will just say that it is the same as before this update that I don't like. I just played again with someone, and now if I just barely apply direction to the right, the serve often is to the right of the service line. With offline play, I can't hold the right arrow down a bit and hit the line (not to the side of the line). It is just too sensitive online now. Also, like I said before, I really didn't notice a difference between online play and offline play before this update, and now I do (no surprise there, I guess). So, for all of you who had difference before the udpate with online and offline play, congratulations. Enjoy the changes. For the rest of us,  :annoyed:   .

Vanessa Child,
>> I served 2 double faults using the "safe" serve
were they long/in net ? or too much on left/right ?
If the later, then u need to get used to the new timing, and it should be alright.

>> almost everytime Imy opponent hit a drop shot and i got up to it to hit a safe strike, my ball went way out
it's likely a positioning problem, and not related to the new timing.

CC,
>> I really didn't notice a difference between online play and offline play before this update
== Quick Maths ==
-- time to push left/right before hitting the ball to send it on the line --
before :
- offline : t
- online : t + lag
now :
- offline : t
- online : t

example :
if u stand in a position where u need to push 0.4s to the left to send the ball on the line when playing offline, then before, online, while playing with a lag of 100ms, u needed to start to push left 0.5s before to hit the ball. Now, u need 0.4s.

...

Ok I'm starting to like this anti-lag thing more and more as I play with it, it's nice because the timing seems pretty consistent in all matches...but what's strange about it is that I am able to hit some incredible shots that weren't possible before even with 0 lag, like I can hit the lines from positions that weren't possible before, and still aren't possible if I play warm up with CPU. Like especially with return of serve, I can hit much more accurate returns than before much easier...it's interesting, I guess I like it, but it's a different game in this sense, not only like anti-lag.

Forgot to add of course that I hit incredible errors as well, that I never hit before! lol

Ok now I have played enough to give my final opinion of the anti lag thing...I HATE IT! lol And I think I have some decent reasons why...firstly, it has completely destroyed my game. Like, I have no game right now whatsoever. LOL I think I have a right to be disgruntled lol. I played some matches with zero lag, and still the timing is completely different than before the update, it's much more sensitive and that makes the game mechanic completely different and I'm totally clueless how to play and how to hit and I also hit a ridiculous amount of errors. This is with zero lag may I add again. So basically the update made the game very different, and requires to be learned all over again. Personally I find this annoying and pointless, but I guess I could get used to it after a while, if only I could get some practice under my belt in warm up against CPU, but the timing offline is totally different to online and it's like the old timing, so I have to abadon my warm up practice or else my game gets even more confused than it is! Lol If there isn't anyway this update can be undone(pleaseee lol), atleast make the game offline exactly like online, so I can play the warm up I like to play lol.

Manu, have you changed anything in World Tour? My serve and volley style is not working, I don't know if it's because I'm playing against a defender with too much top spin as David Ferrer (though it's on hard court) or it's because the game has been changed :?

I think it's too late to change it back now, now that most of us are getting used to the new way of playing.

S.Williamz, what do u mean by "zero lag"..? So far, at best, I played with a 50ms lag. To have a 0ms lag, normally, u should play on a LAN, not on Internet.
Also, what do u feel on the serve ? If u feel it's not always the same timing, then the problem is very likely with ur instinct that is too much used to fight the lag... :fear:

Santiago92, all the changes are listed in the release notes above... Maybe u're still annoyed by the change of precision when u change the direction of the ball ..?

Well I mean something like 50-250 ms, I consider that zero lag, because it really doesn't seem to have any effect on the gameplay, yet the timing is now completely different. Trust me I've played enough to know my timing is different lol. It's okay though, it's absolutely no problem at all for me to find a good level with this update, but I wish I could practice the timing a little offline, but that is not possible.

That's obviously nonsensical, if you got used to it this fast, I bet you would get used to the old way of playing even faster. lol But whatever, it's not going to happen so...

ManuTOO:

CC,
== Quick Maths ==

Then something else has been changed, because without a doubt serving offline and serving online are not the same now (even if this calculation you described is as you say it is). So the issue maybe isn't about that variable, but the issue is that serving online and serving offline now, for me, are different, and before they were pretty much the same. So, please look elsewhere for a cause, I guess, because the issue is real and not imagined. Online, I really can't apply any right direction to first serve now as the ball will hit to the right of the line. Offline, this does not happen, and it wasn't like this before the update.

One thing I like about the update is that it feels easier on the fingers, I don't have to press so much...LOL. Maybe I'm imagining it but it's nice...lol

Well, I do have to say one thing. I know that ManuTOO tries to make the game right, listens to us, and is constantly trying to improve the game. It is good to have him in some online matches now, and maybe his experience there will help him to make adjustments to the game. Whatever problems I may have with it now will likely be resolved somehow as he continues to make the game better. :thumbleft:

Ok, here's two things that have been bothering me for awhile now but I haven't gotten around to mentioning:

First, as R.Gasquet mentioned earlier in this thread, the topspin shot goes out at random times. When it does this, the player is usually in the green part of the danger zone and hits the ball in the racquet's sweet spot. Why should this defensive shot be going out still?

Second, I've been having a problem lately with running around one wing to the other to hit a slice. What I mean is that I prepare to hit a slice forehand (or backhand, it's happened both ways) and then I run to the other side and the player changes to hitting a slice backhand and the shot goes out. While the shot is sometimes not hit on the racquet's sweet spot, it is in the green or yellow of the danger zone and the slice is supposed to be a safe shot.

If necessary, I'll try to send you videos of either of these.
