Importing real results

Postby Guest » 22 Jul 2007, 20:22

Hi,I think it'd be interesting to have the chance/option to import results from the real life.
So that if somebody liked that he could play in a world circuit where the results are the same of the real atp, making it all way more challenging or realistic in my opinion.
The same could be done,if possible, for the manager version.

Hello,

I already thought about that, but quickly, your own player would create unrealistic situations : example, once you're n°1, who should be seed #1, you or Federer ..? And if as an unseeded player, you beat Federer on 1st round, making him missing the point he needs to be n°1, what should happen ?

They would be many cases to handle like this, and the whole thing would a hell to sort out, and it'd need a lot of work to the base synchronization anyway...

Well,I don't know how the game engine exactly works,so you are the only one who is supposed to say whether a suggestion is possible to be implemented or not.

As for the situation where an unseeded real player beats somebody else, the result is simple:the looser gets the points for having lost at that round.
This would reflect in the atp classment, but it's normal.
I mean,if i beated federer in the first rounds of all of the the 4 slams tournament,i wouldn't expected him to be nr1 at the end of the year like he is now, simply cause he 'd be missing those points in the game.
The human player is the free variable of the game indeed.

Moreover,if I am the atp nr1 I expect to be top seeded in the tournaments I join in.Then federer would be nr2,nadal 3 and so on...

A good way to sort the problem out and fulfill this wish of having more realistic results but including a little imprevedibility so as to avoid to exactly know what is going to happen could be implementing another function:
All the players have a secret range (not shown) for every tournament they take part.

For instance,Nadal who won the Roland Garros in the 2007 could win again the tournament or at worse be in semifinal for the roland garros of that year.
Or Djokovic who made it to the wimbledon semif, could get to the final or being eliminated at the quarter finals stage.

Then my suggestion would be:
Making the draw with the real players who took part in the real tournament.
If the human player is seeded, slipping back the ones behind him.
Giving a bit of unpredictability to the tournament with the secret round reachable, the range of which shouldn't be too diffirent from what happened in the reality.

What do you think mana?

Hello,

like I said, it'd need many rules and many special cases handling, and at the end, even if the players in a tournament could be close of the real life, almost all matches would be different coz of the seed mixing...
