(Input) Lag is Dead !

Hello,

prepare yourself to play without Lag..!

I'm changing the way network code is working, so if everything goes well, in the next build you'll move online exactly in the same way than offline, without any Delay on input.

The catch is that the ball will jerk a bit sometimes when it's hit by your opponent, as well as your opponent. I'm going to try to smooth it as best as possible, and when it'll be ok, I'll release the new Build, hopefully before end of this week..! ;)

There's also a 2nd smaller catch : it'll require a bit more CPU power, but nothing too bad, something like 5-10% at worst.

So just to make something clear, would ping be affected at all in this case otherwise .. ?

Right, and it's even worse. I've been playing [censored] Pro and I know how does it work, it's pathetic and worse than TE before :roll:

It will have almost 0 jerkiness on the ball up to about 200ms of ping ; only your opponent's movements will be a tiny bit jerky ; it'll be quite noticeable, but globally it should be very bearable.

Above 200ms of ping, the ball will get a bit jerky just after your opponent hits it, but nothing too bad, I think (I still need to code this part, but the pretests I did were quite encouraging), and your opponent jerkiness will raise.

The only real lag will be for your opponent's skid sound ( = the noise from his shoes), the crowd sound, and the umpire announces that will be played up to 0.2s too late ; all of this shouldn't be much noticeable.

for this new vrs i must to say it is vrey very baaad,there is still lag,and its smth slowly,shots are very sloww... :x

The new No-Lag code isn't voodoo magic, if the connection with your opponent is terrible, it'll still give bad result..! Fiddling with the Delay may help though.

I've played with quite instable 300ms ping and I'm pretty happy with the result, it was quite close of the offline play... :whistle:

Sometimes the game jumps and it's horrible ...
I don't see anyone satisfied ... we can thank you for what you've done Manutoo but i don't think it's effective ...
