ELO isn't so important, especially losing 3 points, but I'm just curious to know why the system is set up so that when I was serving at 4-5 my opponent lost connection (retired) and the game took 3 points from me and gave 3 points to him? He has an ELO of 1698 and mine is 1682. Seems like it should have gone the other way or no points at all.

Jeppyboy,
if your opponent won more games and you both have similar ELO, then he should get some ELO points.
You can tell it's unfair coz there was no break, but this is smoothed coz you'll serve 1st in the set 50% of times.

Someone who disconnects should earn some
ELO points, but I should lose some? That doesn't make sense to me. I should just be reassured that 50% of the time I can serve first, be on serve at 5-4, and disconnect myself? Someone who disconnects should get zero points, and especially someone who didn't disconnect shouldn't be penalized.

Well, ELO isn't so important, but I agree with Jeppy.....

Most of times, the game can't know the reason of the disconnection, it can't determine if it's u who disconnected or your opponent, so it just calculates ELO with normal rules in such case.

So when I'm leading *5-3 40-0 and he stays in the menus for 10 minutes and eventually connection is lost and i get a 70 elo penalty from an opponent who has MORE elo than me...
