Online tournaments - human players ranking system

Hi everybody!

I had an idea to start some tournaments played only by humans (since tennis elbow can be played online this is just a matter of time untill we finally start to play like that). I thought a lot about it and I would like to give it a try. I would like to make it well so I would need to preapare a website to manage everything. Thats why I decided to ask you if you would like to participate in tournaments like that (i dont want to spend a week to make a website for nothing). Here are some details:

Tournament would last for a month (or longer if there were many rounds). I think that a week for a round should be enough. There would be a whole tournament draw on the website. You would have to catch your opponent somehow and play a game. Then you would send info about result to me (email probably). Both players would have to send info cause i would not be able to check whether it is correct otherwise. I would put all results on the website and another round would start next week.

Rating points would be given to players after the tournament and the position would decide on next tourney draw. Like in real tennis world ;)

There are some difficult questions to ask. What happens when you cant catch your opponent? What happens when you dont send me the result or if only one player sends the result... I dont know all the answers right now but we would probably be able to find them.

Anyway... If you are interested please post a reply here. If there are enough people to start this project we should be able to have first tourney shortly :)

I'd play, but unfortunately this game doesn't have much of an online community. I believe a league was attempted before with no success.

Hello,

yup, someone else set up a website for a tournament, but almost no one registered there (you can see the topic in the "Tennis Elbow Online" forum, in which this topic will move soon too ! ;) ).

In these days, there are about 10 regular online players.
During the summer holidays, it was up to about 20.

And one big problem will be the ping : it'll be hard to play for players very far from each other.

If you want to give a try anyway, I'd advice you to launch your site around next January 20th. With the Australian Open, it should have more players willing to try the game...

90% of the people I play online are trial users. :(

I have already set up a website in hopes of organizing players all over.

People are going to be from everywhere, but it wont be too hard to just ask for which region people are playing, and then group them together - so long as they know who plays the game and lives close to them.

The game will be more managable then.
