4 human players in doubles ?

Postby Voja » 07 Dec 2010, 15:21

Well..i wanted to hear all players oppinion about this topic , i think it could be very nice if we could play doubles with a player that isnt a computer. well, because we all know there is always some lag , maybe the player could choose if he wants to play with an other player or with a computer partner? I think that would really be great ! :D

If I am not mistaken, theres already thread about this topic before and yes it is a very good idea. I am just wondering why this features has not been implemented yet there are other tennis game out there that can do this. An example is the one which I will not mention the name of the game whose server is in Germany. I am glad to say that I can join both the doubles and single with minimal lags, considering that my place is in Asia, a very far place from Germany. The only reason I am not playing it anymore is because its not realistic enough. But in this wonderful game, I cant even join any single game for some reason. Before I can join but now I cant and I dont know what happens.

It's not exactly original. I thought when I first saw doubles was available on TE that it would be 4 player online. You can imagine the disappointment when I found out otherwise. However as good as I think it could be, it could also be equally bad. I mean it would be absolutely chaotic on court, but otherwise it'd be fun.

Re: 4 players in doubles

Hello,

I already answered to the same suggestion a few years ago, and unfortunately my answer this time is still the same : it's too much work compared to the few doubles matches done.
Since the beginning of this month, we got about 10'000 online matches, and only 250 were doubles, that's only 2.5% ...

Although, I agree it'd be nice to have 4-human-player doubles, and if it was easy & quick to do, it'd be already there... :)

About the lag, it'd be of the level of the 2 worst/most distant players, maybe a tiny above, as there would be a bit more communication than in singles. So if all 4 players are close of each others, it'd be ok.
