Double faults, please remove

Postby S.Williamz » 03 Mar 2010, 17:24

I really don't think there should be random double faults in online games when hitting the second serve(fire 1). Too many times I get broken just because I hit 2 double faults in a game, and I don't consider it my fault. It's just not a good mechanic for online games even though it tries to add realism. It only adds annoyance. I know I could hit the safe serve(fire 2) but that is just too weak and often times is like hitting a double fault anyway. And you would have to use it all the time to prevent double faults.

I think that's what the fire 2 serve is for. You can hit that and not get a double fault, or you can go for more with fire 1 and risk hitting a double fault. Risk-reward.

I guess...but I just specified why the fire 2 is not adequate. It's far too weak and often it's a suicide. Also if you want to avoid double faults you have to *only* use the fire 2. It's just annoying when matches are decided by these random double faults. But it's not a huge problem, just overall I think it would be better without them. Just a suggestion.

I know you said fire 2 wasn't adequate, but I think it can be sometimes, especially if you kick it up on a high-bouncing surface.

To do a second I always use down+ Fire 2, I don't take a risk on second ball not like others who make a 2nd with Fire 1+2.

I agree with S.Williamz the 2nd serves especualy when you hit slice with fire 1 you cant go that much in the side because it goes in out.Another thing it is very irritating to see players hit 2nd serves with 208kmh i wanted to discuss this i post idk in what topic but no one answerd. There should be a limit on the 2nd serve because it is irritating to see someone asing you on 2 serve with 208kmh

S.Williamz, read again here : https://www.managames.com/tennis/doc/Ten ... ml#strikes ; b2 is the 2nd serve, b1 is a safer 1st serve...

But that makes me think I should probably lower the % of serves in with b1+b2 & b1 when having 70% in power & 100% in consistency ; it's kinda too high now...

Maybe lower the percentage of first serves in to stop people hitting so many succesful second serves with acceleration, but for the love of god don' t lower the percentage of second serves!

The percentage of serves in seems fine  One way or the other people will risk their second serves...and some others won't. Risk and reward. Perhaps the fire 1 serve shouldn't go long or into the net as much though...it seems to be lower % than the fire 1 + fire 2 serve

Maybe the serve is fine. I just realised that hitting the safe serve with a lot of kick is actually not too weak. So it's fine. I do think that the first serve percentage could be lower. Mainly because I think they go too often in when people hit acceleration on second serve as well. In real life that would be way too risky for anyone to even consider.

i think serve is little ok but yeah s.williamz is right that u r always under pressure for 2nd serve when ur opponent has 100 fh and bh with 0 topspin.i think manutoo shud lower the hitting speed after the serve....i mean the first return after the serve shud be less than 150 and after that it can increase but not certainly immediately after serve.it just becomes so unrealistic that ur opponent always hit at 150kmph on ur second serves and sometimes even on first serves lol  .in real tennis the topspin serves have lot of effect but in this game we find a bang of 150kmph even on such serves lol..return on serves shud not be so violent on all such serves(most times returns of such serves shud comeback with low speed and more topspin)

I have to disagree that returns are too powerful...they definitely are not. It's very hard to return and a lot of points the server can hit a straight winner from the return. Sometimes you get a nice return but still not causing too much trouble for the server, just preventing a straight winner. So I think the return is fine, it's quite realistic imo. Also returning hard from second serves is realistic.

well i think serves are quite good i believe becos second serves with topspin(b2+down) normally (99% for me) dont go out which is good but i think u r trying risky serving on second and that mat go out a lot even the safe b1serve is only good for first serves not second...so try topspin serves which cud help u a little i hope

i think that the extremly safe serve isnt that bad i know its not a great position u get urself into but with spin its hard to attack anyway and maybe against the best returners u need alt but thats what u risk when u hit the alt key

I rely a lot on my first serve, so when my first serve doesn't go in, my game really gets affected. With the new version my first serve percentage went way down.
Everyone has a playing style, so now I have to look for something else. I think in stead of lowering the first serve, the second one should be lowered when using it in risky mode.
Fair play is the best play. Come on!!
