You just need training that's all.. There's no tips about that, just be ready when the ball comes, of course sometimes you will miss the ball but that's normal.
But if you want to return, so try to go back like this it will be more easy to return.

I was returning at my best around that time as well. We both absolutely crushed 2nd serves.

I absolutely comprehensively suck at returning right now. Everytime my opponent serves at a line it's an ace it's crazy lol.

Hi,

When you guys (Tog & Richou) are "crushing" 2nd serves, are they serving to the middle of the service box or to the sidelines or "up the "T" ?

The reason I ask is because although I know that playing online in most cases is supposed to be much tougher than CPU play, most of the times at the higher levels the CPU serves SOOO wide or straight up the "T" that it's extremely hard to be able to position yourself to CRUSH the return...even on 2nd serves...

Add to that, the CPU most often is programmed to react instantaneously to where ever you return... very rarely at the higher levels does the CPU ever serve a lollipop 2nd serve where you can get a "good" whack at it to hit a winner or get a weak reply... :?

We were crushing everything: up the T, out wide, button 1, button 2, slice, kick, it was crazy. I wish the video from our Wimbledon QF still worked. :(

haha yeah its a shame it would have been worth a watch. maybe manu can release a new build where we can watch older videos.

but yeah our returning was insane we could hit great returns off first and second serves, luckily ive retained that element of my game :)

Heck...I can crush the returns with direction using max acceleration...
It's just that it's so hard to hit winners or actual forcing returns off of it against the CPU...

I don't get how it can be that much fun playing the CPU all the time.

Hi Tog,

It IS an "option" that Manu included in the game....
I mentioned to you my reasons so far for not playing online...(besides the fact that I probably SUCK at it...

Plus...with my weird work schedule it would probably be most difficult to be able to be available for tournament play...

If you notice, the times that we correspond on windows live messenger it's normally between the hours of 10:00 p.m. 'till around 2.00 a.m. EST...

serena this might be a little retardet its just if u dont know it yet. if u stand closer to the baseline u cover the ancle (excuse bad english) and if they serve out there it should be easy to take it early there tho u open the serve in the middle. my tip would just to mix it good up so u dont count on one side each serve so u kinda guess but i myself isnt a very good returner i tried going close to the baseline and it didnt go quite well depends on the day aswell but i prefer standing far behind and maybe get alot of spin in my forehand tho on second serve if i feel good and have read theyre most used serve and location then i count on it there more and i love the 2hbh down the line on a return cause alot of player goes to one side when they served.
