Extremely Angry - Lost ELO Because Opponent Froze Game

Postby Vanessa Child » 25 Feb 2009, 21:08

Hi,
I was leading the match 3-0 against [Fake] JJ. I just won the third game, when it froze. I could do nothing. I waited for a minute or so, and then it said, "Connection lost! Player 2 wins!" What? And then it said I retired and I lost 40 ELO....that's a lot of ELO to lose, for a match I won. Its weird because I was Player 2 anyway, so why should I have lost ELO?! There is nothing I "should have done" otherwise because nobody was in the menus so I wasn't going to quit. I would appreciate it if this could be fixed--thank you.

Just be happy you don't lose more ELO. If that same thing happened to me, I'd lose 100 ELO.

I found a lil bug when the connection is lost, but I'm not sure it's related to the case exposed here...
Anyway, the fix will be in the next update...

OMG....Manutoo this is COMPLETELY UNFAIR. I just played a match against a "Player 1". She was terrible...absolutely terrible. I was up 2-0, had not lost a point yet, she retires...i lose 40 ELO....................and an additional 12 ELO; she gains 12 ELO....

????????????????????????????

Second time in two days....all the matches I've played since then are meaningless now because I lost my ELO. Will this keep happening? Can you please fix my ELO? Please? Clearly the bug has not been fixed and I just keep losing ELO every day for no reason. If you want a screenshot I will gladly show you one.

Vanessa Child, if this happens again with the new build 28 (released today), do a screenshot & show it in the forum...

There is also one, when I was leading 4-0, he press start and wait 2 mins, then connexion lost.. I think he has disconnect his connexion..
Then I've lost 12 ELOS, I don't remember who and when.

Was playing Rafa Nadal, won our first set, then was up 2-0 in a rematch. The game froze. It was only 2-0, os usually that doesn't affect anything when the player retires, so I retired. I lost 14 ELO and he gained 14 ELO, and lost an additional 47 ELO for "retiring". I thought this was fixed a few updates ago? Not so happy about it right now.

If there's 2 games played, it counts.

When it freezes, you just gotta wait it out for the "Connection Lost !" popup, unfortunately. I've noticed a couple players that I think intentionally close the game hoping you'll quit right away, then it says YOU retired.

Too bad about the lost ELO, but your rating will eventually return to where it should be.

Well , I see u all complaining about the ELO .
I personally don't care about ELO , Certainly , I hate to lose it stupidly but it's not a reason to complain about it
for example: I had 2920 elo, and I played against Ying-Chang whose elo is 1230, my game crashed when I was leading 2-0 and I lost more than 80 elo and this happened two times (almost 200 elo in less than two minutes) but as u see , I am still alive and enjoying TE

I was playing with Stajus online and we made a set I won 6-4, I got my ELO and so, everything was fine...we made a rematch, it was 2-2 and my net crashed and the conection lost. No penalty for anyone.

We gave it a 2nd try, same thing happened and no ELO penalty. 3rd time, the score was 1-1 this time, conection lost thanks to my crash in net and no penalty for either.

Then, we gave it a last try, it was 1-1, my net crashed again and Stajus got a ELO penalty of 40 (he hosted all the games) but it was thanks to me that the conection was lost.

I have 2 questions:

- why he got a ELO penalty?? (maybe because he was hosting, but I think it doesn't make sense)
- why only happened at the 4th time the conection was lost??

Thanks in advance.
