Opponent stays in menu during match

Postby Underwater888 » 01 Feb 2009, 04:25

So what happened was I played a newb player and when I was leading 4-0, he went to the menu and stayed there. I gave up after waiting for 2 minutes but I still lost like 200 ELO. I want an explanation for why this occurred. Plus, it would be nice if someone reliable can give me exactly how much time you have to wait and what the exact conditions are so that next time I can quit and not count it as my loss.

You just have to wait 1min before to be able to quit without losing your ELO (when it's not bugging... )

can I switch to another application and will the time for waiting reset? Also if I go into menu before 60 seconds is up, what happens?

Swapping app doesn't reset the counter...

And if you quit before 60s, the game will consider it's ur wrong not your opponent's.

I guess I'm not making my question concise. I meant if I went to menu before 60 seconds is up and not give up to check on replay or something, then is it still my opponent's loss if I quit after I wait in menu for the alloted 60 seconds?

yes, if u go into the menus before the 60s are gone and wait there, and after give up, it'll be seen as your wrong by the game engine... U have to wait in the match screen...

This player somehow managed to freeze the game when I was leading 5-2. I knew he was cheating; therefore, I switched applications, while staying in match. After about 2 minutes, I went back to check if the game was still frozen and for some reason the match was counted as my forfeit. Just like to know how to avoid this next time. I usually dont encounter cheaters anymore because I try to avoid low ELOs but I'm surprised that a master lvl player would attempt (and succeed) at these creative cheating methods...

I know that tsonga adores his "cheater" topic but that topic is ineffective and is a discussion about how cheat remains minimal in to2009. So, i suggest someone create a new "counter-cheaters" topic when there are future problems concerning cheaters.

you should have waited in-game 1 min and after give-up, maybe it'd have been better...
