SPC,
could you reformulate your issue with the short slice ? I don't understand what you mean in your 1st message.

When i receive a topspin shot and i use a slice down the line, the end result is a short slice , and it happens a lot of times :annoyed:

My theory about it: Hitting a standard slice late will result in shorter standard slice. With these new stats in Fair Mode, the consistency is lowered and these standard slices will be shorter more regularly. These short standard slices can be attacked easily and are quite different from a well-executed real short slice.

Its the same, i have played in all modes, actually fair the least i have played with these last updates, and the short slice is hit with such ease so many times that its kind of ridiculous.
And no you are not right about it (short slice effectiveness), when you are in a well contested rally, that shot slice dropshot really changes everything, normally i receive a short reply back and i can hit a cross court backhand winner most of the time or my oponnent makes a silly mistake.

And this playing against very good players like Vika Azarenka and Stiven Tenjo.

Read again: I did not say anything about actual short slice effectiveness, only about the effectiveness of a standard slice being hit late (and thus being shorter than usual).

It seems to me that short slice is effective against people playing far from the baseline, which is logical. Playing against someone who is on the baseline or a 1-2 feet back it is not nearly as effective. I think the way you handle that slice is what makes or breaks its effectiveness. The issue is not "getting there", 9/10 times you will be able to put your racket on it, so the issue is what shot/play counters it. To me, the counters are: short slice back, drop shot, long slice and volley. Hitting a regular shot of a "biting" low slow slice is not logical. I bet if you "punish" the opponent a few times with a "proper" response to short slice - he will be really careful about using it.

If one is having hard time "getting" to the short slice, then one must be standing too far from the baseline on rallies, or, one needs to work on his "moving forward" reactions.

A slice or a short slice across the line moving forward to the net is very effective, at least it works nicelly with me

SPC,
it's either what VMoe86 said, or you pressed up by mistake during your slice preparation.

By the way, late movement/positionning feels much better imo in the last builds thanks to these tweaks :jap: .
