CPU at the net

Is there any way to modify the game such that volleyers don't have such a big advantage? I find volleyers to be the most frustrating and irritating opponents on this game. They are NEVER caught off guard or wrong-footed, no matter where you place the ball. It's so irritating! They make these ridiculous returns and the ball lands on your side on the line! They have too much of an advantage on this game. Otherwise I really like it!

Why not just slow down the CPU at the net? Creating opportunities to do a passing shot doesn't really work that well, especially since EVERY TIME the CPU returns the ball at the net, it's either on the line, on the corner, or just away from you so you don't have the chance to return the shot appropriately. I think net play on this game in general is VERY unrealistic and needs to fundamentally be changed. It seems like the higher the difficulty, the more the CPU tries to find ways to screw you (for example "random" net cord winners), rather than just playing tennis better. Just my 2 cents.

Guest,
just learn how to do the short acceleration & the short strike and you'll see that the Volleyer is the easiest style to beat, no need nerfing...

I think the advice given by Manutoo is the best one.
Volleyers are much more intimidating than dangerous. Of course, if you play against a good volleyer without having good skills at the baseline, you will never be able to pass him. But when your player has the skills, passing them is kinda easy. Just use short diagonal accelerations when they approach the net after serve. And if you don't catch him off guard during approach, you gotta be patient. Usually the anxiety to win the point is what makes you lose against a volleyer.
I used to lose every time to volleyers. Now I'm much more comfortable playing against them.

Antimouse,
I think it's not realistic to have to be patient when you play a volleyer. Either you pass him or you fail but the point should not be long. And you should not manage to pass him only when he's running to the net.
Manutoo,
I agree with you but with an increased BallDiffScale paramater, it's very hard to strike a good short stroke. Otherwise, it's down to me to decrease this parameter...
The others,
Volley is very hard but it is exactly the netpresence which is too strong. Despite of some of you said, it's not difficult to reach the volleys of your opponent but to manage a passing is.
See you

spinoliver,
you play with a very special custom set-up, thus you have problem that others don't have...
