Henin likely plays a few double tournaments, so at most, it should be like this :
SingleDouble = -0.75
(the SingleDouble should be between -0.75 & +0.75 to allow the engine to take any player when a tournament is not full)

Hello,

ok, I just added the color numbers in the Character Sheet. Download the latest version from the website, then open the Tennis.ini and locate this line, under [Menu] :
ViewColorNum = 0
and change it to :
ViewColorNum = 1
to make the color numbers displayed. (you can add this line to your own .ini if you're using a custom profile)

Henin hasn't played a doubles tournament since Australian Open 2003. She has played doubles in Fed Cup once though.

Hi!
First of all congratulations Manutoo for your work, I've enjoyed the demo and looking forward to buy the whole game when the new version with WTA tour is available.
I've been having a look to the WTA file and have some suggestions:

a) This applies to the ATP mostly, I don't like to watch doubles specialists like Bob Bryan, Kevin Ullyet... reaching final rounds in singles

b) Sometimes names are used more than once and I don't like to see a player in a year she shouldn't be. I don't mind a name being reused in a player starting at 2020 (I don't know if i will get that date ever), but there odd cases like 2 Agnes Szavay (players 0544 and 0650) starting at 2002 and 2007 which will play at the same time for some years. Or a "clonic" Tatiana Poutchek starting playing doubles at 2007 and reaching #1 at 2011. There is a mess concerning spanish players, there are 4 Sanchez Lorenzo in the database!! I know WTA doesn't help as it changes sometimes the name of a player which makes difficult to track the rank. I will try to detect those cases and send you.

c) For top players it's OK as they have realistic birthdates and rankings, but for other players many start playing at 19 and keep until 34-35, which is not very realistic (usually a player starts with futures and gets ranking with 16-17 and plays till 29-30). Also sometimes players get their best ranking with 28-29 (eg. Hantuchova peaking at #3 at 2011 and #5 at 2012 and then retiring at 2013) which isn't very common, most of players is at their top between 22 and 26-27, then decline the last few years

d) It would be great a 2007 update of the database at the end of year, revising upcoming players like Szavay, Paszek, Cibulkova, Olaru, Cirstea, Cornet, Govortsova, Knapp...

e) Players starting in 2007-2011 with "clonic" names of existing players could be substituted for real names of promising junior players (eg. Junior #1 Pavlychenkova is supposed to peak at #43 while a "clonic" Greta Arn will reach #6). I miss future star Michelle Larcher de Brito.

I'm currently working on an historical ranking Excel file which I will use to revise the database and could be useful for you also, so I will keep you informed!

Hello Juan,

a) I tuned a lil bit this in that latest update, do u have it ?
Else, I'm thinking about changing the rules for the simulation engine, making physical & rally skills secondary for double matches, and volley skills more important, thus leading to a lot weaker double specialists when playing singles, and making easier to become a double specialist for the coached players.

b) Szavay : it was a mistake, I already corrected this in my local base (not sure what happened about this one :? )
Poutchek : I did a lil mistake, I lowered the BestRank to 60 to allow the cloning, I should have let it to 120 to be sure only very unknown players would be cloned, I'm going to try to fix that
Lorenzo : just checked her, and there was a big mess ! So I corrected that manually... :?
If you notice doubled players ( = almost same name & same years), don't hesitate to let me, coz it's hard to find by myself..!

c) I'm going to lower the starting age by 2, and the falling age by 1, compared to men players

d) yup, it's planned, end of year is too soon to not do that ! ;)

e) if u have some additional propositions, let me know..! :)

Thank you for your quick answer!

a) I don't have the latest update, so it's great if you are into tunning this :wink:

b) I will give you a list of odd cases when I finish with my WTA ranking Excel file, which is taking some time as I said players like Sanchez-Lorenzo is listed with different names (Maria, Ma. Antonia, Ma. An.) so the tracking can't be automatic in some cases.

c) & d) Great :D

e) I'm planning to make a list of young players which could replace the clonic names starting at 2007-2011 or junior players which are underrated (eg. a 15 yo player currently ranked #500 should be expected to be in the top in a few years rather than a clonic player starting at 2007). I'll keep you informed

I'm not sure for the full update...
But a new test version should be there within 2 days, including :
- all tournaments & categories
- updated base with players given in this topic
- pics of some top players, and 1 customizable woman character for other players
- maybe a few special rules for the physical skills

I have a question: why are the Tier I mandatory tournaments?

in real WTA Tour only GS and Miami are...

I don't like it, because only 17 tournaments count to the ranking and if you count GS and Tier I (4+10) there are only 3 tourneaments remaining to the rank...

for example, my player had a SF in Stuttgart (TierII) and a Forest Hills title (TIer IV) that didn't count to the rank :?

Hello,

I read in WTA Ranking explanation this : "Mandatory Tier I Tournament". And I misinterpreted as meaning "all Tier I tournaments", where actually it means only 1 tournament (no 's' ;) ).

Thanks for the feedback, I'll change that for the final WTA release (upcoming soon !).

Hello,
I finished my WTA database check (wow, it is really extensive!) and I've collected some things for you to fix in next update of the game. In the Excel file you can find

a) Compilation of players who are repeated in the period 1990-2006. Most of them are due to change of surname after marriage (for example Dominique Monami and Dominique Van Roost should be the same player) or due to a change of notation in WTA rankings (for example Sofie Lefevre and Sophie Lefevre)
b) Missing players (I couldn't find Kournikova nor Schett in the last demo you uploaded!) You can use the players I propose to substitute the odd ones in a)
c) Real names, countries and birthdates of promising junior players to substitute "clonic" names for players starting in the period 2007-2013

You can download the excel here:
http://www.geocities.com/dospordos/database_update.xls

As the new update is available I will buy the game and I'm also planning for further updates such as:
- Update of WTA tournament list with the real ITF women tournaments for challengers (instead of ATP)
- Real rankings for the players in the period 1990-2007 (many of them already are, but there are players starting 2003-2006 not very accurate)
- New names for players starting 2014-2023 with "clonic" names

As always, congratulations for your great job!
