Women Base for TEM : your help is needed !

General discussions about the 1st version of Tennis Elbow Manager

Hello,

woh, you really dug deep into the base..! :)

b) I just noticed the missing players, it's due to a bug in the base creation when I stuck together several players. It should be only low ranked players, but a few well ranked players got into the process... :?

I'll update the player base, but not too soon, coz now I started a big update (mainly, all tournament draws will be saved, and so, many global stats could be created from that).
So it'll have to wait the end of it...

Hello,

if you want to change the challenger tournaments, take care to not put too much tournaments every week.
To check if there's enough players for all tournaments, run the game for 1 or 2 years, and then look the System.log file : it'll show you the weeks where there was not enough players to fill all the draws...

Thank you for the advice, in fact I was already aware of that so I was going to keep the same number of tournaments (like 3-4 challengers and 2 futures per week).
Now I'm mostly playing and the problem seems to be the opposite, low ranked players hardly play any tournament (maybe 999 players per year are too many).
I also want to adjust the tournament categories to women ITFs (prizes, points, draw sizes) but I will try to be careful and test everything first (I have already noticed that "real" draw sizes, for instance no qualifying in doubles, would make impossible for low ranked players to enter tournaments)

I guess u didn't notice, so :
- tournaments that didn't earn any point aren't counted in the "Played Tournaments" counter
- many players who almost didn't play any singles tournament play a lot of doubles tournaments, and vice versa

I noticed the first one as my player kept with 0 tournaments till she earned a point. That's also how real WTA ranks are, so it's OK
The fact was that futures were played by player ranked 400-500 and 500-600 in the qualy while players under 600 hardly played, but I didn't realise they could be playing doubles.

I see you already have your update almost ready and I don't have a lot of time for a while, but I will try to have a look at it at least

Hi!
I have some question about the doubles related parameters. What is the effect of the singledouble and the doublespirit parameters?
I though that the singledouble parameter is related to the singles and double tournament a player commits, is that correct or does it affect also the doubles performance?
For example players as Samantha Stosur and Katarina Srebotnik (marked 0.75) which are great doubles players are also good on singles and should play more tournaments. If I put their single double to 0 or 0.25 to play also singles, how can set their skills (volley, rally...) to have a better performance on doubles? I know you already do that in order to make doubles specialist a little bit worse on singles, so an explanation of which parameters affect singles/doubles performance would be great :D

Hello Juan,

SingleDouble : it's only used to determine what kind of tournament the player will be most likely to participate :
- if < 0, then it'll be mostly in singles
- 0, then equally singles & doubles
- if > 0, then mostly doubles

DoubleSpirit is used to make Double Specialists stronger in Doubles.
The DoubleSpirit skill doesn't have influence during single matches...

Here the skills to lower for double specialists : Forehand_Power, Forehand_Consistency, Forehand_Precision, Backhand_Power, Backhand_Consistency, Backhand_Precision, Service_Power, TopSpin, Speed, Stamina, Reflexes.

And the one you can raise : ForehandVolley, BackhandVolley, Smash, NetPresence, DoubleSpirit.
The most important being, of course : DoubleSpirit.

manutoo,

i found some misunderstanding things while running womens' tour and it would be great if you fix it up in the next update (if it doesn't take too much effort), then the game can be more realistic.

- in Tour Championships (the Year-End Masters), women don't play 5 setters anymore. they play best of 3 like normal tournaments.

- US is the only grand slam using TB in the final set, no matter men's or women's match.

- in Tier I/II tournaments (draw 56), the qualifying field are 32 players (with 16 seeds). 8 players will be qualified to MD.

- in Indian Wells/Miami (draw 96), the qualifying field are 48 players (with 24 seeds). 12 players will be qualified to MD.

- in GS, they provide different field.

A. Australian Open : 96 players/24 seeds/12 qualifies.
B. French Open : 96 players/24 seeds/12 qualifies.
C. Wimbledon : 96 players/24 seeds/12 qualifies.
D. US Open : 128 players/32 seeds/16 qualifies.

- according to the 2006 calendar, these 32 draw tournaments has 16 draw qualifying (with 4 players qualifies). they are Bali, Kolkata, Guangzhou and Tashkent.

- in 25000 Challengers and lower (sattlelite), in qualifying draw (no matter what how many players enter) there will be 8 players qualified to MD.

as i said, i didn't expect you to change all these if it's too complicated to do. i just wanna point the fact you missed out.

thanks

Um you know what, You should put those stats at the end for a doubles player. some ppl just do doubles, and not singles we should be able to get both stats for our singles and doubles career.

@tennisteam :
I don't think Qualifier Draw sizes are a much important aspect for the game... ;)

I'll keep the 5-set final for the Masters Cup, as it was like this in the past, and it makes a bit of variation. (right now, tournaments must be identical in all years for the engine to work)

And for some next update, I'll put the US Open with a Tie-Break in the last set...

Anyway you can manually change everything you noticed... It should be almost easy to do it..! ;)

@Guest :
If you can find me the equivalent stats for the double, I'll add them into the game ! :)

If I was knowing where it is, I wouldn't ask u for it ! ;)
Wikipedia has only the Career records for Titles about Doubles :
