If you are at a disadvantage, then use the experience points to add a % to your skills

How can you do this? I have only been able to use experience to affect Mental Skills. I can only change Topspin by long, laborious hours of training. The change is so slow that it's useless from one tournament to another. It takes months (usually) to get a player from wherever she starts to 35, so once I get her there, I don't touch it again.

Using experience points? At the start of the match - top left - one of the icons - you spend 10/20/40 XP to boost skills by up to 12% (approx - depending on your skills)

Top spin - I don't change it much, but it doesn't take that long to change - moves about 1% per hour of training up or down. The difference between being at 10% and 50% top spin on grass or clay is HUGE. So one week's training gives you much more advantage than a normal week's training - in some circumstances. I only tend to alter it around the clay and grass seasons - teh rest of the year, there is no need.
