General discussions about the 1st version of Tennis Elbow Manager

Postby manutoo » 03 Apr 2007, 07:43

Hello Jippo,

1st, you should download the latest version from the website, if you didn't update since last Sunday evening. Maybe the bug you have already got fixed.
After, if the bug is still there, send me "Tennis.ini" + "System.log" + all sub-folder "Profiles" compressed in .zip or .rar to my email address (the one you got ur license key from)

Did you click on "yes" to send me the bug report when the crash happened ?

also, thanks... ;)

Hi there,

I just wanted to ask if in recent versions the game balance has been tileted in some way. Just I am finding that games are inceasingly being decided in the first set, i.e. a tight first set, decided in the tie-breaker then a one-sided second set. Very rarely do matches go to three sets anymore, or to 4 or 5 sets in Grand Slams.

I only ask because this didn't use to be the case. I am still playing in Easy mode if this has some effect?

Hello michaelwest777,

since 5 days, the difficulty has been a bit raised, but it influences only the training efficiency and the drop rate.
The best players have been lowered a bit, but not much, and it should be noticeable only on the top 20.

The difficulty level doesn't influence the way your matches are evolving.

:-) Hi Manu,

I've been playing a little more and it seems that I just cannot get a three-set match.

Whoever wins the first set wins the match. The first set always seems to be the tightest, then the following set is more one-sided. Has anyone else noticed this? I think it is relatively recent.

I do remember in earlier versions 3 set matches weren't unusual.

I have also seen this. If somebody wins a set by a tiebreak, the next set will be 6-1. I've seen a lot of 7-6 6-1, or 6-7 7-6 6-1. But I do get quite a lot of 3 set matches though

michaelwest777, if your player has good technical skills, but lower mental skills, he'll perform better in the 1st set, and less good in the following sets... Maybe it's the reason ..?

:D That could be it.... He's only upto about 60% on the mental ratings. But when he wins it's the same thing tight first set, then easy second one.

I may have found a problem. If you control 2 players and they play doubles together, they both have to play at the same tournament. I had this with my player and Agassi, but then had a problem because I couldn't enter them into the doubles masters because there's no singles tournament that week

May have found an error. On the yearly stats page, when you finish the year as number 1, it says 0, and when u finish at 2, it says 1 etc.

Hi there,

I've been playing a fair bit again, trying to see if the problem I'd mentioned earlier (tight first set then very easy second and third set) was just a fluke or a clear pattern.

Without exception, I still have yet to have a three set match. In the Master tournament I defeated the world number one 7-6 6-2, his mental attributes were much greater than mine. Every tough match follows the same pattern: 7-6 then an easy set. In reverse it's the same. I have a tight first set then lose the second one easily.

This never used to be an issue. If no-one else has this problem, should I just start a new game? Could I send the files to you Manu and you can see if anything's gone awry.... maybe it is because this one game has been saved over three or four versions?

Manu - I've got the retail release, and I've just had the issue of the coach being left at the previous tournament coming up again. This time though, its not an assistant coach - its the main coach which is going to cause all sorts of difficulties! If you want the save game, I can send it to you. Just let me know.

@michaelwest777 :
>> Could I send the files to you Manu

yes, you can, but I'll see them only on next month (coz i'm trying to be on holidays ;) )

>> maybe it is because this one game has been saved

it's unlikely, but still possible... :?

@Jippo :

I forgot to check this before to leave my work computer... :?
I'll check it next month.

>> when you finish the year as number 1, it says 0

yup, that's right, I'll correct it.

@Rob4590 :
>> coach being left at the previous tournament
did this happen coz one of your player's contract ended ?
If so, then yup, I forgot to handle this case...
If not, then it means there's a more bad bug somewhere...

No it just happened after a tournament. I had 2 of my three players at a futures event in week 12, one lost in qualies, so he came home, leaving the coach with the other player who made it into main draw. I didnt actually realise that the coach then didnt come home with the other player after he finished the main tournament until 3 weeks later, cos I had another player with his own assistant at the coach centre.

On the career stats page, are the titles of the year accumulative (as in yr 1 you win 6 titles and in yr 2 you win 5 it will say 11 in year 2), or should it show the titles won in that year. Because on my games, the titles won go like this from 1993 to 2008:
0, 2, 6, 6, 21, 18, 30, 31, 44, 42, 58, 54, 65, 63, 74, 7. I also have a similar problem with the career prize money
