General discussions about the 1st version of Tennis Elbow Manager

2011 Mod

Postby Zorromorph » 05 Aug 2011, 18:39

This thread is to share with the community what I'm working on, and get your feedback on it(feel free to post any bugs or errors as well).

I'm planning on a lot more things, possibly even adding some playable years to the player base, etc., but here's what I've done so far.

SCHEDULING

** Changed some of the category values so that players 51 and below may enter challengers, 101 and below may enter futures, and the distribution of who enters what events has changed significantly at the lower levels.

2011 SCHEDULE

** Some events were changed from 32-draw to 28-draw and vice-versa
** Final-set tiebreak added for USO
** Some events occur in a different week to reflect the schedule(example: Rome moved a few weeks later and is now the last clay Masters event)
** Dusseldorf removed from the schedule. The reason for this is there is no representation of the unique format in the game, and rather than just having another 500 in a week that follows two Masters and is right before RG(in other words, a virtually mandatory rest/training week), I thought it best to just get rid of it.
** Added Kitzbuhel(Clay 250 in Week 31); replaced New Haven(Week 34) with Winston Salem
** As it rotates positions IRL anyway, I decided to leave the Rogers Cup in Toronto
** Montpelier removed from the schedule, as it’s been moved to late January beginning in 2012 and therefore will not be contested in 2011

With these changes, the top level(by which I mean 250s and up) is completely accurate so far as I am aware. Next steps will be to similarly edit challengers, then the futures level, and then I'll move on to working on the players once that foundation of the schedule is in place. Feel free to download the attached files and try it out! ATP only at this point as that's my main interest.

There are some events still left as carpet, when they should be changed to indoor hard.

New update ready, with the Challengers level completed.

Changes

** Six categories of Challengers instead of the default three, ranging from 80-125 points.
** Schedule changes too numerous to mention, 154 Challengers now as compared to the original 161 and more events than not changed.
** Futures now have the expanded qualifying field also(8 qualifiers per event instead of four).
** Auckland changed to NewLine Synthetic as requested
** Synthetic events changed to Indoor Hard

Futures will be next.

Futures are complete, which finishes the scheduling element, unless more suggestions/problems are noted.

Because of the number of players the game supplies, I limited the events to the top two tiers of futures(both $15k, the 35 and 27-point levels). After adding those, there were a number of weeks that had too many events, so in those cases I randomly removed one of the lowest futures events until there was no longer an issue. There is the odd situation where there will be a few first-round qualifying byes, but in general I think the balance of players and events is now as good and accurate as I can make it. There are now 147 futures instead of 100. There are also now no events of any level on the tour after week 48.

My next project will be to address the players in the historical years(i.e., 1990-2010).

Eeek. Found an error(a couple country codes were wrong) which caused the game to not stop progressing when a tournament involving the created player was ongoing. One-file only here to correct that.

Still have random problems with no known cause yet. Recommend not using this until I get it sorted -- sorry.

What are the problems? last time I made a new tour.ini the game stopped progressing because of Davis Cup countries being set incorrectly and changing them fixed it.

It doesn't like not having enough doubles players to fill some of the draws apparently. I think I'm going to have to shrink down the tournament schedule some more(or add a bunch more players, but that would take a lot longer).

Zorromorph, are you still working on this?

I am one of the players who would enjoy having an accurate 2011 calendar. I have some experience with modding games myself, so I might be able to help if it is too much work for you alone.
