Rob, thank you for your suggestion. I am hoping I won't need it for THIS game, but if I have to start over (again), I will keep it in mind. Emily was accepted into Challenger qualifying, where her team was made the top seed. Sarah won France 1 doubles, but only advanced one placement to 403. I have hopes that France 2 will put her over the top, but if it doesn't, I will try your idea.

I believe this is some sort of statistical oddity that occurs from time to time. Certain combinations of players accumulate the same number of points over the same span of time, so there is very little movement in the rankings. This is the fifth or sixth time I have started TEM, and only the second time this has occured. My first time with 1.0d had nothing like this. I can't remember clearly, because it was back around the time 1.0c came out, but I think that time the problem was slow advancement through singles. I do not believe this is a problem with the program.

What might be a problem with the program is the accuracy of the advisories we receive when we apply to tournaments. Sarah's 404 would have placed her just one spot below the fourth seed in that qualifier, and the majority of the players in it were in the range 440-470, yet Sarah with her 404 was told she would likely be too low. It would seem unlikely (though certainly not impossible) that so many players would plunge that far down the rankings in four weeks.

Curtis, you don't have to restart a game every time a new build is out ; it's necessary only for new major release.

Also, you can keep in mind Rob4590's advice even after Challenger ; for example, it can be more interesting to go through the qualies of an Tier III tournament & reach the QF than winning a challenger. (it depends of the Challenger, not all give the same amount of points)

Lastly, the warning message isn't very accurate, so if you're willing to do qualies, u can aim a bit high ; if the qualies are full, u'll be proposed to enter qualies of other tournaments, if some aren't full...

1) Manu - bit of an off topic post here - but is the Newline Synthetic court the same speed (in the game) as the Classic Synthetic?

2) Also - one feature request (hopefully small and therefore fairly easy) - in Davis Cup, it would be really useful to have the overall match score either on the match screen as you are about to start the match, or to have an extra screen telling you the score before you go to the match. Why? Well if you are the no 2 singles player in the team and the match is 2-1 after the doubles, then you play the 5th rubber - but you go into your match not knowing whether your teammate won or lost his match - therefore you don't have any idea whether it is a dead rubber that you are playing (in which case there is no point spending any extra energy to try and win it) or whether it is the vital deciding match (in which case I might well spend the points)

3) Oh yes - just to keep this post slightly about doubles - I tend to play most matches game-by-game. Occasionally (in doubles) I then go to the match stats screen afterwards, and sometimes I get incorrect stats -

eg:

Team 1 Total points 100, winners 50, errors 0
Team 2 Total points 100, winners 95, errors 40

Surely one team can't play a whole match without making an error?

4) Another bug - when a player's contract ends, I get the screen saying that their objective has been completed. A couple of times this has displayed incorrectly - saying that they completed their objective of winning a tournament, when their real objective was to increase their ranking (which I did). Then is says something about "Type 35" or "Type 41". If I get a saved game where this happens again, I will email it to you just before a contract runs out. (which may be tonight as contract are only a few weeks away from running out.

5) Also one other strange bug that I've had a couple of times - while viewing the tournament bracket, I click on the trophy icon, which correctly takes me to the result of the finals in previous years. Then I can click on the year and it takes me to the full draw for that year's event. When I try and come out of that screen, it takes me to another screen with a box in the middle just telling me the current week and year, and no way of getting out of that screen, so I have to CTL-ALT-DEL to close the program. Funnily enough, it saves the game at that exact point though.

Lol - a post that started as a short question, ended as an essay! :)

Rob, I am glad to see you taking advantage of this thread to ask questions. As you see, half of mine are also not about doubles, and in fact I was just about to ask about the difference between New Line and Classic, so you are helping both of us.

I am going to have to take your advice and apply to Challengers for Sarah, even though I am still being told I probably won't qualify. I entered the lowest of the six on week 13 and got the same result, even though she is down to 391 in doubles and 320 in singles. Oddly, when I also applied to a $42,000 Challenger in France (where I hope my nationality will get me a wild card to the qualifier), for singles I was told that I would probably be accepted for the qualifier, but the $21,000 tournament said probably not. I think this needs looking at for some future build.

Manutoo, in the games I have started so far I have not had problems getting into tournaments after receiving my first Challenger acceptance. At the high Challenger/Tier III level you mention my problem is most often money, and I end up going into the high Challengers because I get more money from winning them than from going out in the quaters of the Tier III. Right now Emily and Sarah are both more than $30,000 in debt, which is by far the most debt any of my players have ever had. My past experience is that in low Challengers the debt no longer rises, but does not get paid off. It isn't until the mid-Challengers that the debt begins to decline, and I usually pass through those and into the high Challengers in very little time.

This reminds me to tell you that the system of wild cards (meaning when you earn a wild card to the next tournament and when you have to go through qualifying instead) in the Challenger series seems to be working well. The problem might be limited to something in the Futures series.

I have tried keeping my old Profiles folder and moving it to a new build, but I lost my game anyway. Because of this I am not going to update to build 19, which as you say in that thread does not change much. My current group of players has the potentials I have seen yet, so I really do not want to lose them. And repeatedly starting over tends to make me lose interest.

I will close by asking this question again:
15) When a player goes to a tournament she is charged for travel and seven days in a hotel. If she makes an early exit, is she still charged the full amount, or only for the days she used?
If the full amount, that brings up the question of what happens when she then travels elsewhere the same week to participate in a qualifier. Is she charged for another whole week, even though she's only at the new site a day or two?

Curtis, oops, I forgot to answer this one last time..! :P
15) the weekly cost is, of course, only an indication to quickly give u an idea, and u'll actually pay night by night for your hotel

Sorry Manu - it hasn't done it this time - well it sort of did. When I ran the game, it told me that Rivera had succeeded in doing his contract, but his contract was to win a Masters Series or above, and the message said it was to reach rank 4 (he is rank 8)

However - when I went back to the autosave and tried again, the correct message came up (to win Masters), so it seems pretty random.

Rob4590, humm ok, it's a bit strange... Next time, if it happens in the same way, could you send me your automatically saved game of 2 weeks earlier ?
