2.Certain style of play should suceed on different surfaces like why should Sharapova a Power basliner win The French Open with ease?

3.make Speed and Stamina more important

Thats all I can think for now its a good game I cant wait for the new update with live scoring

For Venus and Serena... their year-end rankings are too low. Because of their injuries, they don't play as often as Lindsay Davenport. The game runs with year-end rankings : except in 2001-2002, the Williams never finish a year in top 3...

But, that is the consequence of
1/ the system of WTA rankings
2/ the injuries of the sisters

I have already say that, for me, year-end ranking is an inaccurate method to put a level for women.
I have made some changes for the years 2000 -> 2007

For the game : Davenport and Hingis, then Davenport only are always on the top... but in 00's they never win slams!!
My year-end rankings :

2000 : 1.02/ V.Williams (W, US, Olympics), 2/ Hingis (Masters, Australian final, TIer I), 3/ Davenport (Australian), 4/ Serena, Pierce, Seles

2001 : 1/ V.Williams (W, US), Capriati (AO, FO), 3/ S.Williams, 4/ Hingis, Davenport, 6/Clijsters, 7/Henin

2002 : 1.05 (TEM bonus)/ S.Williams (FO, W, US), 2/ V.Williams (finals in serena slam), 3/ Capriati (Australian), Clijsters (Masters) 5/Henin, 6/Mauresmo

2003 : 1/ Henin (FO, US), 2/S.Williams (AO, W), 3/ Clijsters, 4/ Mauresmo, 5/ V.Williams, Davenport, 6/Myskina, Capriati

2004 : 1/Henin (AO, Olympics), Myskina (FO, a lot of good results), Sharapova (W, Masters), then 2/ Kuznetsova, S.Williams, Dementieva and Mauresmo, 3/Henin, 4/V.Williams, 5/Capriati, 6/Davenport
2004 is a season withour clear leadership : I put all the best players of this year at the same level, it's more realistic

2005 : 1/Clijsters (US, Summer), 2/ Mauresmo (Masters), 3/ S.Williams (AO), V.Williams (W), Henin (FO), 4/ Pierce (FO, US, Masters Finals), 5/ Davenport, 6/ SHarapova

2006 : 1/ Henin, 1/ Mauresmo, 3/ Sharapova, 4/ Kuznetsova, 5/CLijsters

2007 : 1.03/Henin, 2/ Ivanovic, Sharapova, Kuznetsova, 3/ Jankovic, 4/V.Williams, S.Williams, 6/Chakvetadze


It's my personnal feeling to a improvement af the ranking system, not a definitive point of view.


(we can put 1.03 to the Graf 93, 95 and 96 seasons, 1.05 to the 92 Seles season and 1.03 for 91, 1.05 to 987 Hingis season).
and I put Sanchez 94 number one (ex aequo with GRaf)

This is just a feeling, not an analysis. I agree with Patty about stamina. I have noticed (anecdotal evidence) that my female players with higher stamina than their opponents tend to do best in the first set and worst in the third, which is not what I would expect.

Speed is a factor in some of the bonuses, so if it is higher it gives a 1-4% skill bonus for 'free'. I am not unhappy with how important it is now, but I would like to hear Patty's thinking.

speed and stamina arent important lol...who is at 1# with 40% speed and 50% stamina? lol

I disagree : Mary Pierce was a powerful baseliner and she reach 1994 and 2005 final and won the tournament in 2000. Serena has won this slam in 2002. Monica Seles was already a powerbaseliner and she won 3 times a row and reach the 1998 final.
The real reason which explain the bad results of Lindsay Davenport or Maria Sharapova or Serena for some years is what french call "jeu de jambes" (I don't know the english translation but it is speed + agility + positioning). A powerbaseliner who runs well and hits hard can win the FO!

But neither Sharapova nor Davenport could really adapt their game to the clay. Some others players have successfully adapt their powerbaseline game to the clay.

Pierce and Sharapova have similary games...

I agree with Ibarrategui - power baseliner is good on clay - but as he says - you have to have great movement at the back of the court on clay. Other (real life) female examples of what I would consider a power baseliner are Dementieva (former FO finalist) and Ivanovic (current champion)(although not having played with the women in TEM, I don't know how Manu has classified them in the game)

And that is the reason I think that a clay love coeff and a grass love coeff will be really interesting to prevent Davenport or Sharapova to win french, without preventing Pierce or Ivanovic to win on clay

Courier, Guga, Moya, Agassi & Gaudio are all more or less power baseliners and total 8 French Open titles in the past 18 years.
There's also Ferrero, but he's more of a puncher.
