General discussions about the 1st version of Tennis Elbow Manager

changing doubles partners

First, the features you have added in version c are working wonderfully. I really like the indicator of which surface you will be practicing on, and the restriction on being able to choose a too-good doubles partner is also an improvement. I have run into some trouble, however.

First, there is still a difficulty with not being able to change doubles partners in the of or the week before you are entered in a tournament. Last week one of my players failed in the qualifying tournament of both singles and doubles for Indian Wells (a two week Tier I). I knew enough not to try changing her partner that week, but I did try this week (which would have been the first week of Indian Wells). I received the same message, even though I was not in any tournaments this week or next, not having qualified for them. I tried resigning from Indian Wells, which cost me a lot of money (shouldn't I have already forfeited that money, since I didn't qualify?). I was still barred from changing for the same reason. I then resigned from all of the other tournaments I was signed up for into the future (costing much more money). I was still barred from changing for the same reason. Either I don't understand something, there is a bug here.

Second, you fixed being offered wildcards into singles tournaments for doing well in doubles, but now I am not being offered wildcards into doubles tournaments, either! I think you fixed it too thoroughly.

Third, I guess this would be a feature request for version 1.0d. Emily was entered in the doubles tournament for Isreal 2 Futures. She had to go through the singles QT for that same tournament, and she failed. The game then asked if I wanted her to fly back to the training center. I was juggling the schedules of three players, and of course that screen does not allow me to check where and when her next tournament is, so I allowed her to fly home, only to have to fly her back the very next day, costing (again) much money and considerable fatigue.

My request is that players not be asked whether or not they want to fly home in the middle of a tournament when they are still participating in it. Alternatively, give the poor coach a chance to check that player's schedule before making up his mind.

Other than the first two things, version c is a big improvement. And my editing of the tournaments seems to have been accepted by the game engine, so I am pretty happy (if very poor  ).

An update on the doubles wildcard: I just got one for reaching the finals of a low Challenger event. The same player previously had failed to receive one for winning a Futures. So, it can happen, but the criteria do not seem to remain the same.

I just confirmed that the same thing happens if I have to pass up a QT because I am doing well in another tournament. Since I did not even participate in the QT, it is difficult to understand why the game engine believes I am in a tournament.

On the plus side, the matching up of sparring partners works very well, and the random change of style of play during a match has disappeared.

And another question: I have twice received messages that I cannot participate in a QT because my doubles partner is still progressing in her singles tournament. It then asks if I want to look for other QTs to enter. This seems odd, since I would have had to enter three weeks previously, wouldn't I? And besides, the page that it takes me to is mostly blank with a pretty picture. No tournaments listed.

1) About double team...
You can't break a team while there's a pending result to be registered (ie: your defeat in qualies will be only fully registered once whole tournament will be done)

2) Since 1.0c you can enter qualies directly, but it was a bug to show you the other qualies when your partner was busy... I fixed it for Windows, and I'll update the Mac version within a few days...

3) Also just updated, now, you won't get the "come back to coach center" screen when you lost in a tournament qualies for one competition (eg: Singles), and you'll have to play in the main draw for the other competition (eg: Doubles)

1) Okay, so this works the same way as if it was the first week of a two week tournament. And that means that two week tournaments really take three weeks (including qualifying). Understood.
