General discussions about the 1st version of Tennis Elbow Manager

another Fed Cup bug, I think

Postby Curtis » 11 Apr 2008, 10:01

My four contract players are all French and all ranked 25-50 in singles. I entered them all in the Fed Cup in both singles and doubles. I assumed, based on my previous two games at lower levels of difficulty, that 25 would not be good enough to make the French team, but being a patriot, I made a grand gesture.

As I expected, Emily was informed that she wasn't good enough for the team. What I did not expect was that the next two girls (Emilie and Pauline) were informed that France did not qualify for this round (which was the first round) of the Cup. I was puzzled that Florence did not receive the same message, but became completely lost when told that she was on her way to compete in the Cup (as the doubles partner of a woman I had never heard of).

As long as I am on the topic of bugs, there's another one (which may fall into the category of design decision). Most nations have flags in color on the game screen, but a few (including the United States) are in black and white.

And one more suggestion for the next full version: It looks like you have enough room to increase the size of the players' pictures by about 50% in each direction and still leave an attractive margin around them.

And I also hope you will somewhat increase the number of real photos of real players, though I realize you might have to pay for the rights to use them. I would hope that many of the real players would provide publicity photos if you sent them a copy of the game (so they could see that they weren't being slandered or made fun of).

[Fed Cup]
so at the end, the France did play the 1st round of the Fed Cup ?
Are you sure Florence is French ?

[Flags]
It is likely a bug happening only on Mac PPC... :?
Or maybe coz you have a too old version of OpenGL...

France played, and lost 3-2 to Bosnia/Herzegovina. Florence is French, and she lost both of her singles matches, winning in doubles.

You may be right about it being a PPC bug. I don't know how to tell what version of Open GL runs on my machine. I tried opening up the system profiler, but it didn't tell me anything I could understand.

[Fed Cup]
ok, so it was a big bad bug... :?

open the "System.log" file in your TEM folder, and look for "glVersion:" , just after, there's the OpenGL version.

The openGL is almost certainly inadequate.

There is no TEM folder in my system. The only System.log file is the one in your game, and glVersion comes back with no hits.

Your system.log file has many, many lines of data, and nearly every one of them includes the notation that there has been a GL error. It seems unlikely that would happen if my system was up to specification.

Do you think that is the reason for the black-and-white flags?

Yup, I guess so.

And "TEM folder" = "Tennis Elbow Manager folder"... ;)
I guess also that maybe most of the error messages are coz ur 3D card doesn't support the transparency mode needed for TEM...
