I was playing and some time it very loudly sounded right when i was preparing to hit the ball.
I was really scared!!
it repeates always when the ball is on my side! it is selective against me (not the other player)

what is your sound card ?

You can try this trick :
double click on the "Tennis.ini" file in your Tennis Elbow directory (usually, under "C:\Program Files\Tennis Elbow 2004\").
Change this line :
PanChange = -1
to :
PanChange = 0
It'll disable the stereo effect, and maybe it'll solve your trouble.

i tried the trick with .ini file, it won't work -all the same it shhhhhh-zzz on me-
and I would always lose the point (:)) too scary!

Looks like the problem with this sound effect appeared after I reinstalled the distribution,
the very first time it was ok, and the win98 also.

Humm, ok.

Still in the Tennis.ini, try to replace these lines :
Frequency = 22050
NbBits = 16
by :
Frequency = 11025
NbBits = 8

Maybe try to re-install the game, also.
