Serve bug

Postby Brad1981 » 18 Mar 2012, 06:56

With the latest build, there is some bug when serving when playing against the CPU. Sometimes the CPU will not serve full power on a first serve. It is lowered by about 10-15 mph. And sometimes, when I try to serve full power, it will do the same. Kinda like a second serve but with just a couple mph more power. Even when I push the correct button for a full power serve, it hits this second serve kinda hit. It happens at random and mostly happens with the CPU player. I tried calculating it. In one match, it happened about 1 out of every 10 points. But in another, it happened in 3 out of 10 points. Can you look into this Manu? It just started with the latest build/sub-build.

Hello,

I just did a set, and it seemed alright, except maybe on 1 serve of my player.
The CPU can serve slower if :
- using spin
- doing a serve-volley
- doing a fault
If you're sure it's not related to these 3 points, could you do a .dmo, noting the score on the problematic serves, and send it to me ?

Here is the .dmo. I played a master tie-break. There are 3 times where the CPU hits a 2nd serve for a 1st serve.
1) At 1-0, the CPU hits a 1st serve of 108 mph
2) At 3-3, the CPU hits a 1st serve of 111 mph
3) At 7-7, the CPU hits a 1st serve of 107 mph.
On my settings, the CPU averages 118-125 mph on its 1st serve. Sometimes up to 130 mph.
All my 1st serves were normal speed in this match, though sometimes when I play, it does the same thing as I said about the CPU, even when I push the acceleration button.
This only started happening with the Build 82. I will play around with the settings to see if it's something on my end.

Ok, I checked and it's normal. It's just results in the low end of the speed span. As the CPU player has a consistency higher than his power, he usually serves with speed in the high end of the speed span, so it's more noticeable when he does a serve in the low end.

But, in all of the previous builds, this did not happen. Somehow, a second serve is being hit in certain instances where a first serve should be hit. Even the audio is that of a second serve. Was this something that was introduced recently (in the past couple months), because like I mentioned, this NEVER happened before.

No, it always has been like this. Maybe you never played against a CPU with serve consistency higher than its power ..?
And the sound is not attached to the type of serve, but to the speed, so it's normal it changes like this.

Ok. I lowered serve consistency a lot for both me and CPU player and seems to make it good.
But with consistency a lot above power, I get this issue only for the latest couple builds. Not with any of the previous builds.

I spoke to soon. This issue is still happening occasionally. Even when I bump up serve power, these "first serves" are only like 108-109mph when should be 125-130mph. Something is occasionally causing both me and the cpu to hit second serves when we both really mean to hit first serves.

With 100% power, your serve speed will be in the range of 193.5 - 236.5 km/h ; ie, minimum of 120mph .
You can send me a .dmo if you have a serve below that during the 1st few games.

EDIT: speed can be under 193.5km/h for spin serves

I noticed on the easiest difficulty the cpu always serves low speeds, once you crank it to junior or higher it will serve normal speed.
Actually on the highest setting it also seems to serv max speed no matter what.
