Incomplete joystick name in settings

Postby jose1711 » 27 Nov 2023, 23:12

I have two distince gamepad devices from 8BitDo, TE4 however shows them both as one.

Info by OS (Arch Linux):
Code: Select all
evtest 2>&1 | grep 8Bit                                                                                                                                                                                        ─╯
/dev/input/event28:   8BitDo SN30 Pro+
/dev/input/event29:   8Bitdo SN30 Pro

In TE4:
Code: Select all
Joystick 1 - 8Bitdo SN30 Pro #1
Joystick 2 - 8Bitdo SN30 Pro #2

This is a bit confusing and I would much rather see TE4 give me the real names.

Hello,

sorry, I'm using a plugin to gather the name, so I don't know how it works exactly.

In a recent update (still not released on Linux, I guess), I made it so the Controller is automatically selected when you start to assign buttons in Settings -> Controls, so you don't have to worry about guessing what controller you have in hand ; and there's also an optional controller assignation before the match.

Thank you, the changes sounds good. Linux version is showing 0.89 and not offering any update.
