[OSX El Capitan] TE2013 quit unexpectedly & Render Glitches

Postby Kei Nishamuddin » 18 Oct 2015, 06:13

Just recently I downloaded OS X El Capitan on my Macbook Pro. When I opened TE 2013 this morning, I clicked the green icon at the top of the window to maximize the screen and all of sudden the game quit

Now back to the game I played, the graphics especially on the players, the ball and the court went to black and white. These all happened after I downloaded OS X El Capitan. Yesterday it was completely normal. I played the final match against Gilles Muller under these circumstances and guess what I lost the game quite easily

That's the bug that I noticed so far, I hope you can fix it as soon as possible.

Cheers

Hello,

an update fixing the rendering glitches is on its way to Apple's approval and if everything is alright, he should be available within 1 week.

Update on the situation,
Last submission failed because SDL_image 1.2.10 uses a deprecated API.
I just recompiled it by myself, so hopefully it might avoid the deprecated issue, but then the rendering glitch may come back.
We'll see the result in about 1 week...

If you're tech savvy, you can replace the SDL_image framework within TennisElbow2013.app by the previous version from here : https://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_ima ... 1.2.10.dmg ; it should fix the rendering glitches.
I can't bundle it with the game because it uses deprecated functions and the AppStore doesn't allow that.

Update on the situation,
The version submitted to the AppStore on last Sunday didn't work, same than the Steam version, but with the help from 2 Mac users on Steam, I was able to finally found a solution..!
So the game is now fixed on Steam, and I just resubmitted it for the AppStore, so it might be checked by Apple within 7 days. Hopefully, this time everything will be alright... :fear:

Kei Nishamuddin,
right-click on TennisElbow2013.app -> See Package content.

Hello manutoo,

The graphics seem back to normal but the window problem is still the same. When I want to maximize the screen the game quits again :(

I will let you know if any other problem exists

Kei Nishamuddin,
oops, sorry for the maximize, I have actually no idea what's going on...
Does only resizing (instead of maximizing) the window also make the game crash ?
Also, did you try to switch to fullscreen mode..?

As for today, I can't open the games as it is already damaged. It asked me to re-download the game on App Store. Should I pay again if I re-download it?

No, if you paid for it, it's in your account forever, so you can delete it & re-download it without problem (if it's not the case, you should contact Apple to ask them what's going on).

I have my game back and my last save is still available. To answer your last question, I did switch to fullscreen mode and there is no problem yet.

That was likely a store wide bug from Apple, as I just got this email :
Last week we updated the Mac App Store app signing certificate. This was a planned event and most users experienced no issues. However, some users experienced some issues during this change. We have corrected those issues, and wanted to share this update with you.

In anticipation of the expiration of the old Mac App Store certificate, we issued a new certificate in September. The new certificate used the stronger SHA-2 hashing algorithm in accordance with current recommended industry practice, where the old certificate had used the SHA-1 hashing algorithm.

Unfortunately, a caching issue with the Mac App Store meant that some users had to restart their systems and re-authenticate with the Mac App Store to clear a system cache of some outdated certificate information. We are addressing this caching issue in an upcoming OS X update.

Also, some apps are running receipt validation code using very old versions of OpenSSL that don't support SHA-2. We addressed this by replacing the new SHA-2 certificate with a new SHA-1 certificate last Thursday night.

In addition to issuing the new certificate and addressing the Mac App Store caching issue, we have provided up-to-date troubleshooting information to the AppleCare support team.

Most of the issues are now resolved, though some apps may still experience receipt verification failure if their receipt checking code makes incorrect assumptions about the certificate. Please ensure your code adheres to the Receipt Validation Programming Guide and check that all receipt validation issues are resolved. If necessary, you may resubmit your app for expedited review in iTunes Connect.

We apologize for any inconvenience to you and your customers. If you have any questions, contact us.

Best regards,
Apple Developer Relations
