SQA333 wrote:Hi guys,

Since the upgrade to Windows 10 I have struggled like most of you to solve the game crashes with FSAA enabled, and the microstuttering. However I managed to temporarily solve it, thanks to another forum post on the Interweb.

First things first:
- DELETE PRE-EXISTING TENNIS.INI (suggested by Manutoo in an earlier post)
1. The game will create a new one when you start it up next. My preferences and settings were already stored in the files located in the Profiles folder, so this had no effect on them once the user profile was switched from the Default one.

====================================================================================================

- DISABLE FSAA IN GAME (everyone knew this already) and force it in NVIDIA Control Panel or the AMD equivalent as follows:
1. Antialiasing (FXAA) - ON
2. Antialiasing Mode - Override any application setting; Setting - 2x

With these settings, most of the jagged edges aren't visible anymore, and fullscreen-play can be enjoyed in all its glory.

=============================================================================================
Now for the important one:

- SET A LIMIT TO MAXIMUM PRE-RENDERED FRAMES in NVIDIA C.Panel:
1. Initially I set it to 4, which greatly reduced the stuttering, but there were still traces of it here and there.
2. Setting it to 2 has reduced the stuttering even more (God forbid it returning again 8-) )

NB: As a precautionary measure:

- TURN ON V-SYNC / TRIPLE BUFFERING in NVIDIA C.Panel

=============================================================================================

This may or may not work for everyone, but I'd just like to share my experiences with changing these settings.

Good luck with Windows 10!

Yeah, your settings helped more than a little bit, but still stuttering is not completely fixed!

Thank you!

Hello all,

I upgraded my PC from previous Windows version to 10. Like most of you, I was having the stuttering graphics issue with TE2013. Because I’ve moved up from Virtua Tennis 2002 to TE2013 and to a better PC, it was crazy for not being to enjoy TE2013 like I used to, now under the latest Windows environment. The bottom line: Since I like the game so much, it really doesn’t affect me as an average user when I decided to drop Windows 10 and switched back to 8.1 – when I can now get to enjoy the game all over again without having to do any tweaking. I hope better solutions are around the corner; but for now, this works for me. Cheers! :D

Someone in the French forum reported that playing in a non-native resolution was creating lag. So check the game video resolution is in your monitor native resolution.

Re: Windows 10 upgrade, same configuration game stutters

Hi all,

Like most of you, after upgrading to Windows 10, Tennis Elbow performances became quite bad.

I tried a lot of things, and I think I found an interesting solution.
Actually, I have firstly upgraded graphic drivers to get a Windows 10 version (I have Intel HD Graphics card), but the stutters were still here and the general performances were still quite poor compared to Windows 8.1.
But finally, I also upgrated audio drivers (I have realtek audio HD card) and then, miracle ! the performances became quite the same as with WIndows 8.1 !

So I think everyone should try to also update audio card drivers to a version designed for Windows 10.

Hope this will help some of you !
Cheers

I managed to solve the framerate drop problem!
In fact, the resolution in the configuration was not the same as in the game!

I can now, reenjoy the game!! :D

If you really want to enjoy this game without tweaking or without any worries, DO NOT UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10, or even attempt a clean install of Windows 10. If you are running Windows 10, revert back to 7 or 8.1 immediately.

I've tested on multiple computers and it is impossible to have a 100% smooth experience full screen no matter what settings / high performance power plan / graphics driver is used - although you can reduce the stuttering by using the settings on this thread.

I just played 14 minutes on a clean install of Windows 10 with my old PC and didn't get any issue. :aureola: (with a gamepad and FSAA off)

Thanks for your quick reply. :)

What about with FSAA on? Does it still crash or stutter with 1.0g?

SQA333,
I don't know, I didn't test it... :P
From what I recall, it might crash with FSAA on, or just revert to FSAA off (could have been a drivers issue that has been fixed since last year, though).

I fully agree with SQA333. I am a computer engineer by the way. I bought a new laptop to enjoy the game on a 17 inch display. It came with Windows 10 clean installation and i had the stuttering problem. I updated all drivers, tried all tweaks, even tried my own ideas and tweaks, and no luck. You can improve (reduce) the stuttering but the game will never feel the same again. Then, I bought a Windows 8.1 pro license (spent more money) and did a fresh installation and the games ran perfectly. Again, I upgraded my windows 8 pro to windows 10 pro and the stuttering behavior returned. Manutoo I really love this game and appreciate your work. Words cant describe how I feel when I play it. Please make the effort to reproduce the problem and fix it.

My laptop is Acer Aspire VN7-792G. It has an intel hd 530 card and an nvidia gtx960. Like other people mentioned, i am not able to run the game with the gtx card, which is REALLY a pity. So I am left out with the intel 530 card. Using the exact same drivers and settings, Windows 8.1 runs fine and Windows 10 stutters. In my opinion, it is clearly a compatibility issue between the game and the new OS. At least, if you can help us run the game with the powerful gtx card, i am happy to test it and see if i can get it to work and then feed you all back with the results. Please Manutoo provide your help and support bc we have really reached a deadlock and only you can do something about it...

Re: Windows 10 upgrade, same configuration game stutters

Postby EH008 » 09 Apr 2016, 21:06

Manutoo thank you for your response...I have gone through all the information on nvidia card issues with windows 10 provided in the link above. However, that does not seem to be applicable to my case.

After two days of intensive and tiring testing (including going back and forth between windows 8 and 10), I would like to share my observations:

1- GTX 960m driver version 355.60 (Aug 13, 2015) is the latest one i can install if i want to play TE2013 in Windows 8. Later drivers dont work with the game!!
2- The same driver 355.60 does not run TE2013 in Windows 10!
3- What we need to find out is what exactly did nvidia drop after August 2015 so TE2013 wont start on Windows 8. Is it Directx 8 support as you mentioned in another thread? Why are Intel HD 530 recent drivers able to run the game and not GTX960 ones?
4-I tried to run the patched SDL version to see if GTX960 can run it on windows 10. I could still see Directx7 and Directx8 in the settings menu and I could access network play. Also I did not see 'exe' file having the letters "SDL". Did I not install the patch correctly?

I hope that the above feedback can help you figure out what can be done. Also please clarify how to verify that the SDL version is installed correctly...

EH008,
1- when TE2013 doesn't start on Win8, what error do you get ?

3- yup, they could be dropping support of DX8, although it's pretty sure they would clearly announce it.
And no idea.

4- As it has been reported the same issue with the SDL version, I removed it once I released a new version (I was not going to re-build it for each little patch)

5- did you try to turn off your Intel IGP in the Bios to force the use of the NVidia card at all time ?

My Win10 PC has an Radeon card, maybe it's why it's working correctly... :)
