Lag when offline

I've been having a problem with lag occurring even when I'm playing offline. The game becomes extremely jerky and doesn't stop until I restart my computer. I think I've narrowed the cause down to either something with Google Chrome, or with watching livestreams of sports events. I know this is a bit vague, but do you have any suggestions as to what I should do?

Hi Tog,

When you say offline you do mean playing against the CPU/ World Tour, right?
The reason I ask is because I've been corresponding with Manu on the "TE2009 1.0a" topic about what seems like a similar issue...
Are you noticing it only with build #29?
I'm getting very similar lag-type issues with jerky player movements when I play matches against the CPU...
Manu had me check my fps rate to see if/when it drops below +/- 60 or so, and what happens as a result...
Needless to say, when it drops is when I'm having these issues...
So far we haven't resolved it yet, but I've been wondering if anyone else has been having this problem...
I never had these symptoms with any of the earlier builds...

Come to think of it, our problems do sound similar. But I'm pretty sure I've narrowed the cause of mine down to having Google Chrome open, and I just downloaded that after this new build came out so I have no way to know if the problem would've occurred before. And I don't mean playing World Tour; I haven't played that in months  But I've checked that the jerkiness occurs both when I'm playing online and offline. Have you been playing with a browser open? I don't think IE does anything to it, but Firefox might, and definitely Google Chrome, but I know not many people use that.

I have the same problem, when playing warm up. I thought I had finally lost it thinking I had joined a laggy online game even though I was going to play warm up. Gladly, this wasn't the case. In a way, it's great practice for laggy online conditions but frankly it just sucks. lol I think it has to do with the recording stuff because the problem occured after I had tried recording/playing recorded matches-

This may sound stupid Tog, but when you're not playing online who/what are you playing offline against?
Or is it just when you're practicing against the CPU?

Ahem, I wasn't thinking clearly...I forgot that you TOP players usually don't trifle with the World Tour...

Anyway, no...I HAVE played some with a browser open, but since I've been having this problem I've been careful and checked to be sure that all browsers are closed, so THAT isn't the problem here... :dontknow:

Like S.Williamz said, I also have a sneaking suspicion that the problem may be with the recording "stuff" that Manu inserted in this build, even though I've not yet tried recording or playing any recorded matches...

At least I consider myself in great company here, since the 2 best players of TE have noticed it... :applause:

Btaylor, when I'm not playing online I'm usually just testing the conditions. Either that or watching a recorded match. What it sounds like here is that all three of us are having the same problem, but with different causes. I've checked to make sure mine didn't come from recording because I've had it off and the jerkiness still happened and I've had it on and it didn't happen.

Togtdyalttai, when u notice jerkiness, could u hit ctrl+alt+del to see if any other task takes a lot of CPU power ..?

Manu, I looked at my task manager and there was no task that took up as much memory as TE. Google Chrome took up less than half as much, but I still think that's what's causing the jerkiness, as it only occurs when I have that open.

Togtdyalttai, I guess you have to add the "CPU Usage" column to see it (in Display -> Choose Column). The memory usage isn't too pertinent, except if a program eats it all...

I looked at that too and the usage was around 10%.
