Player characteristics being lost

Postby CC » 02 Jan 2009, 04:57

Twice now when playing the World Tour, my player's characteristics have been lost (or changed). The first time, I had a player with brown hair, a hat, a certain color socks and shoes, and other features. I had played several tournaments like this. Then, I selected the next game, selected a tournament to play in, and on the screen showing my player and my skills, the characteristics were all different -- the forehand, the backhand, the hair color, no hat, etc. I just ignored this the first time, although I did eventually change the hair color and some other things, like the shoe style. I played several tournaments with this "new" player. Just now, this problem happened again, and I don't know what to do. This is very frustrating as I would like to continue to build my player through the tournaments, and I don't remember exactly what all of my skills were set to before this happened the second time. So now, I am getting tired of playing the World Tour, because I tire of having to change these things or keep up with them. Oh, in this last occurence, the mode of my player is CPU, so I can't play at all with this character that the game selected for me. I had to retire the match, as when I tried to correct this by changing to another profile, the game crashed. When I reopened the game, my normal profile was loaded, and again trying to activate the Default profile crashed the game. So, somehow I have to correct these changes in my player profile and try to resume the World Tour.

It is possible that this time, my player's skills were not changed, as I can't remember exactly what they were before this happened. On second look, though, I think that maybe they are the same. Still, though, the CPU was selected instead of human, and many of the character style attributes are different (shoes, hair, etc.). Strange.

Also, as I just noticed during a match, the ball preview was changed (it was turned off, whereas I always have it on), and the auto-positioning was changed.

Sorry if I am whining. I don't mean to sound so negative. I love this game. I do think of Stuey, though, and he is right about how much time can be lost to playing a game, even a great one such as this. Anyway, thanks for this nice game, which I will continue to play. By the way, Happy New Year!

Hello,

it looks like a bug...
Maybe only on the outfit... I think I got it once when I was a middle of an update, so I thought it was associated with the code on progress in that time, but it seems it may have not.

Did you notice if this bug happens after a specific action or moment in the game ?

If it happens again, you can still reload a previously automatically saved game...

You can change the Human/CPU control in your Character Sheet, and in the Match Preview screen.

And Happy New Year..! ;)

Thanks, Manutoo. I think that it was only the outfit and the CPU being made active instead of human (which I didn't do). I was able to correct this.

I don't recall there being anything special about when this happened. I think that maybe I had finished a match (of a tournament), exited to the online games menu, looked for games, gone back to the World Tour, and selected to play the next match (of the same tournament). I didn't notice the problem until I was into the game. I think that with this selection of the next match, my player's preview does not appear -- just my opponent's. So, I had no way at that point to switch from CPU to Human, right?

I believe that after having to resign that match since I couldn't play, I did load a previously saved game or whatever it is called. Then, I was able to finish the tournament.

I think that the points issue is just normal, as I actually read more of the Full Documentation, and it explains that some of these characteristics will decrease each week. It really does help to read the instructions!
